Emmy nominated Top Chef hostess Padma Lakshmi is cooking up a new project. Variety reports that Lakshmi plans to star in an upcoming NBC sitcom. With the possible title of Single Serving, the thirty-minute comedy will feature Lakshmi as a female working in the culinary industry. The show is still in the initial stages with Padma and executive producer, Charlie Corwin, scouting writers and talking details. Although she's known mostly for her role on Top Chef, Padma's had several small acting roles. She appeared on ABC's The Ten Commandments miniseries and played a singer in Mariah Carey's ill-fated Glitter. I'm very interested to see where this show goes and am curious to check out Padma: the actress!

interesting - i mean it kind of makes sense. from TC she's really gotten herself out there and she's had endorsements which shows that people really want to see her (maybe not me but someone). it'll be interesting to see if this comes to fruition and how it does.

5her voice is so grating, she speaks so slow and low that listening to it for an entire sitcom episode is unfeasible
6yeah, i agree that her show will be cancelled. have never thought she was that pretty...she actually reminds me of a praying mantis.

9i'm with chief dishwasher, this show won't last 6 weeks! really, Padma doesn't add anything for Top Chef. It's all Tom C., Gail S. and other celebrity chef judges. Padma just looks fashionable (sometimes) and that's about it. I don't see her adding anything valuable to any TV show.
10she's not exactly my favorite element in top chef and i'm not sure she has the acting ability to lead a sitcom. i'm not so sure this is a good idea!
