True Blood fans: If you've ever wanted to know what a TruBlood, well, truly tastes like, you're in luck. At last weekend's Comic-Con, the producers of the show announced the launch of an official beverage, made from — what else? — the juice of blood oranges.
In the HBO series, vampires are accepted into society and coexist with humans — but rather than drink human blood, they imbibe a synthetic supplement, TruBlood. And while Tom Colicchio recently concocted a bloody good substitute, thirsty viewers can now pre-order the real McCoy.
I celebrated the season premiere with festive food of my own, so I can't wait to try the drink just for the novelty of it — although I won't likely be stocking my shelves with it. Would you buy this drink?

No, because
11. probably overpriced, and
2. empty calories
i'd be open to try it. i think that i'm a bit anxious because i watch the show and it's just a bit scary to think about what they are drinking but if it's oranges then there's nothing wrong with that.
2I'm not a fan but I'd try it.
3I'd try it, but it depends how the 'blood' looks. If it's too realistic, I may not be able to stomache it, even if it is just blood orange soda...
4I would and I am a fan.
5I don't watch any of the Vampire shows and movies and don't read the books. I'm a grown up! And Blood Oranges aren't my favorite. But it sounds like whomever invented this is going to make a ton of cash on everyone who likes that vampire stuff!
6Love the show, and would try for fun.
7I'd try it, but wouldn't drink it regularly. When are the marketers going to release vials of V? That I'd be interested in.
Also, not all vampire novels'/shows' target demographic are children. That the Twilight series is (and is terrible) cannot be reflective on the works of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, or Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles or even Bram Stoker's Dracula. There's quite a large distinction and a wide gap in creative innovation from the Stephanie Meyer schlock.
8Where's the option of "No, I'm not in 4th grade anymore"? Besides, like runningesq said, it's probably overpriced and full of empty calories. I'll just eat a blood orange if I want it.
9anything blood-related and i'm put off for life!
10uh doogirl please don't make such comments when obviously you don't know what ya on about...heres an idea why don't you hire out the first season of True Blood. After watching that please feel free to come back and share your opinion about vampire shows
11@TrueBloodHBO (the official True Blood Twitter) answered these questions about the drink after it was announced:
121. it's all-natural 2. it will be in stores 3. it has 99 calories 4. international is coming!
I might try it if its right in front of me, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a 4.00 bottle when I can go to Kroger and get an Orangina Blood Orange in a cute little bottle for 1.29.
13delaney, define "all natural."
Ingredients:
14Carbonated Water, Can Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Potassium Citrate, Carmine Coloring, Potassium Sorbate, Sucralose, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Benzoate, Caffeine, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Caramel Coloring, Red 40, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin B6, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12), Folic Acid, Gum Accacia, Ester Gum
Clearly those who think True Blood is for kids have never seen the show. Don't be so judemental.
15i'm not feeling all the marketing...twilight has a lip venom gloss coming too. i know true blood is nothing like twilight, though.
plus, not a fan of blood oranges
16I LOOOOVE trueblood!
seriously people, I was skeptical at first too....I wouldn't dare go near Twilight series. But one day my sister happened to be watching Trueblood and after two episodes of the second season, i was hooked!!!
My boyfriend and I went back and watched the whole first season and now we can't wait for Sunday Trueblood nights!
anyhow, I would definitely try one...i love blood oranges!
17oh, by the way...trueblood is filled with MURDERS, HOT SEX, and MORE HOT SEX....totally NOT kiddy show!
18Wow, who knew that some popsugar readers would be so judgemental. Like some previous posters, not all vampire films/novels are for children, and to assume so is very narrow-minded of you. And besides, I don't mind having a few "childish" guilty pleasures.
Anywho, onto the *actual* topic. I would try this. It might be overpriced, but I adore blood oranges, so I would definitely want to try it. Also, the novelty of the idea would just make me laugh.
19I got to taste TruBlood at Comic Con, mixed with vodka, and it was delish!
20I'm not a fan of the show but I LOVE the books and I'll give the TrueBlood drink a try
And I agree with every word Phil said. My two cents is, IMO Twilight put a bad spin on vampires.
To each thier own of course.
21Anyone who complains needs to lighten up, it's fuuuuun, it's called entertainment. And for those not into "childish" or "4th grade" entertainment, I assume a) you've never watched the series (I would never let a child watch it, it is rated for a MATURE audience) and b) you've never enjoyed, say, a Disney movie, because that is quite the definition of childish, and I LOVE it.
22No thanks
23Yes I will try the drink when I can find the damn thing......lol
24Love thwe show....
25we will be serving True Blood at our little bar on Halloween. Too Much fun not to!!
