I have never worked in the food business but my friends and family have and so I know what they have dealt with when it comes to tips. So I try my best to tip well.
I feel so bad for servers, most of whom have no health care benefits at all, yet work so hard. But if they're jerks, they get nothing. Sorry. I've had a few nasties in my time, but not
recently...
I give what people deserve. If the service was acceptable they get the 20%. However if they are really bad and I mean they have to be completely rude and negligent then they get nothing.
I know that if I'm treated amazingly, I tip accordingly over 25% percent. However, if I'm in a fancy place and I get sh*t service, you better belive i'm tipping sh*t (around 10-15%), although
most of the nice places with sh*t service have a tipping minimum, then I leave it at the minimum.
I will say that I tend to be generous, but if I've asked ou for some basic things, i.e. more water (becuase it ran out), or extra napkins, becase I'm eating something messy, or basic things
and they are not brought back ina timely manner (say 5 minutes or so) things are not looking well for an abondance of tipping, you're getting youre 15% maybe a bit more, if it was only 1
thing u forgot or took to long for. But if your taking forever for every little thing.... well hun, you've got yourself a problem
I'd like to think I'm fair.
I have friends in the food service industry, and I understand that some days things just don't go your way. However, if you are going to be consistantly incompetent, then, unfortunatly, you
will get the tip at the same level.

I tip great. I was a bartender and a waitress for years and I know who it is. Remember if you get something for free tip MORE! They are hooking you up!
I always tip well, but will tip extra well if the server is really great. I've had a few God-awful experiences, though (not me being a b*tch--I get that sometimes service will be slow--but if
the server is outright rude, then forget it), and have left a reduced tip as a result.
I usually tip 18-20% if the service was good, and 15% if the service was just tolerable.
I've only walked out once without leaving tip, and it was because not only was the waitress a complete b*tch, but she ignored us practically the whole time and slammed my friend's drink down
on the table.
Lseaton611...
I ALWAYS DO THAT.
.
even if they accidentally or on purpose didn't charge me for something, the amount of that something is added onto their tip, the way I see it, I prefer to see it go to the person directly
and if they wouldn't have hooked me up, I'd still have to pay that amount anyway...
I always tip 20%, unless they really F-ed up then I will still tip 15%. Once when I used to be a server, I got a 7 cent tip. It's because they thought a side of guacamole was too expensive.
Like I set the prices!!! @ssholes.
i'll tip minimum 10%, and that has to be for like really crappy service. but normally twice tax, so about 17% in CA, or higher. more, if it's really good service, like 20% - 25%
I worked in a restaurant in college (I quit a year ago) and let me tell you...depending on whether or not the restaurant is part of a chain, we basically have no base salary. I made $1.88 an
hour, which translated to zero dollars in my paychecks (everything went to taxes). Thus, servers like me LIVED on tips. PLEASE tip your servers well- I definitely understand giving a low tip
if your server is surly or neglectful, but if you have a nice, polite server, please always give 20%. The extra dollar or two you tack onto your tip might not seem like a lot, but it can go a
long way towards making your server not have a nervous breakdown in the backroom!
I worked as a bartender and waitress for a long time, so I always tip very well. I'll tip 15-20% for mediocre service and well over 25% for excellent service. But you better believe that if I
have a problem I will not hesitate to complain to management!
I waitress and my biggest pet peeve is when I get people that tip like crap, you are recieving a service that is not included in the meal and should tip according. Its 20% across the
board...no excuses . IM tired of bending over backwards for rude people and getting tipped 10% sometimes less sometimes slightly more. Some people have the attitude(ive had friends I have
wanted to strangle that think this way) "well dont be a server" well my answer to that is- if there were no servers your lazy butt wouldnt be getting your food, and every place would be like
Mcdonalds. PLus trust me Servers rememeber your face if u tip like crap and come back ( even if its not the same waitress) you will recieve crappy service-everyone in this business talks
...because quite frankly if you tip crappy and you recieved great service you deserve it. If people cant afford to tip you cant afford to go out, plain and simple so thats not an excuse as
well. People who have worked in the industry understand, I think there should be some sort of class everyone has to take in HS or college that makes everyone work in the restuarant
world...maybe that would make it so people wake up and stop being so d*mn rude to there servers. I mean dont get me wrong if you get down right mean rude service fine...tip less but really
how often does that happen...people love to look for reasons -any stupid reason- to tip less. Like some poor waitress who has the dining room all to herself and gets 7 tables all at once,
shes not giving bad service on purpose( although people will stil take it out on the waitress) its managments fault which then the server has nothing to do with...I guess my point is people
should really think before they decide to tip crappy.
I tip 15%, if the server is horrible maybe a bit less, if they are just plain rude and idotic i will talk to the manager, On the other hand if the service was impecable than i will go higher
on the tip.
BIGGEST PET PEEVE with servers, if they come to get my order and SIT DOWN next to me, like they know me...I HATE THAT>
My husband worked as a waiter for awhile and we both like to be generous. I give about 15% for lousy service, about 20% for mediocre to average, and 25% or more for good service. My husband
used to get 100% tips as a waiter sometimes, and I've always wanted to give one of those, but haven't quite had the right experience yet.
I love to tip at least 20% for excellent service, but I have to tell you that it has to be earned. So many servers that I have encountered at restaurants just assume now that bare minimum
service at the table deserves high tips. Many I have encountered say hi (but seem to busy to really care), take your order, bring it (sometimes it's not even them), then drop the tab. If
you're not going to check on me to see if I need anything, or at least refill my drink, then I have nothing but 10-15% to give, if that. Working in the service industry, I know that it isn't
that hard to put on a smile and cater to people, even if you're having a bad day, customers don't know that, and most of all customers don't care. They want to get great service, that's why
they dine out to begin with.
once you work in the service industry you will totally tip differently then you did before. i always used to tip about 20% now its a lot more. ive been though it and i know what its like to
live off of tips.
I've always wished that people would only be aloud to patronize restaurants and bars if they worked in the service industry first. Otherwise they don't know how tough it really is. Sometimes
it's hard to keep your head up when there are so many people who tip unacceptably. 15% is MINIMUM unless it is crap service. And don't think that people don't remember you when you tip crap-
there's a reason that you're service remains mediocre at best when you're a frequent customer tipping sh*te.
20%. If the service was rude/poor - 10% maybe, or whatever I care to leave. If the service was outstanding - 30% and up. There's no excuse for rude service. If you are having a bad day, suck
it up. You have to in every other profession - except perhaps the recluse evil mad scientist...but even then, her research for that day will be f*d! XD
I never tip below 15%, and I've been known to tip 50%. In one of my speaking classes, one of the girls talked about tip share for one of her projects, and it made me feel horrible for anyone
who ever stiffed a server. I couldn't imagine every working as a server or a host, and I'm glad there are brave souls out there who are doing that. If it weren't for them, who would be
getting your food and cleaning up after the rude kids who eat sugar packets and patiently wait for your party of 20 to order?
I was always a good tipper until I moved to the bad service capital of the US. Now I'll do a straight 15%, only increasing it if the service was good... like if I get my salad BEFORE my
entree.
My husband and I have always taken cruises, kids were NOT going to stop that. So my boys have each startd at 2. Servicing 1 2 yr old. My now 17yr old ate chicken &steak he was a dream all
the way from 2 until now. So they give you and envelope w. waitstaff tip amount 7 days x amount tht the mngment thought. Well when my second started traveling he was hell on wheels. After non
stop traveling dec 24 we sat to dinner my son was 3 the food the people he had had enough . The sommilier (sp) wine boss came over (idont drink &my hsband stuck to mixed. Well two minutes
later the wine boss came over with 3 plastic wine testers and a brandy snifter.my sonfell in love. I found outthis was to be his last cruise for 2 wks he was getting married. Our waiter was a
bit standoffish he was from Croatia. He asked me the 1st night was there any food the baby really liked. Being from Jersey he missed blueberries. Every night there was a silver chalice filled
with fresh bluberries nd a Brandy snifter with corks +toothpicksThen 1 night I ordered squab, I felt a gentle poke I looked up it was the waiter shaking his head no,instead pointing to rack
of lamb. He looked petrified.so I just nodded. He was right for the next nigts appitizer 1 choice was squab something.so after that night I lifted my menu pointed from soup to main he would
slightly nod. Even my husband said I picked better food.the 2 yr old got ziti, oil and garlic just in case.. One night he was leaving the dr as we were letting the jr waiter clear I went to
thank him he shook his head and nodded to the deck. He said all his money wenthome to Croatia and if they caught him telling me what not to eat he would be fired. So when it was time to tip
he got double the amount your supposed to give and a 9.11 shirt that I won at a benafit. He had expressed interest where to get one because he and his family were deeply moved by the helpin
efforts of others (my husband was there 4 3 days) the wine boss got tipped as if we had a bottle every night. And now weather it be diner or 5 star I remember the server did not cook, warm,or
plate the food. If he or she has a personality glich I always ask ok what customer put you this way go sneak a cigrette, chocolate, etc. I'm in no hurry go take a deep breath and remember karma
is a b*tch. We are both usually laughin by that point if not I usually tip over anyway usually that money is more improtant to them even if its my last dollar......My karmas good I hope. They
work damn hard I'd be fired the 1st day

I'm a pizza delivery driver and a lot of my friends wait tables or bartend so I always tip really well. I have a lot of respect for waiters/waitresses because there's a decent amount work
involved and they really have to earn their money. My job is really easy, you don't have to spend a lot of time with the customer but you do end up putting a lot of miles on your car and
using a lot of gas so there's that aspect of tipping. Even if the service is HORRIBLE, I always end up brushing it off as "oh they were having a bad day"

This soup ends up being a good source of three blood pressure-lowering minerals since the milk adds calcium and the potatoes deliver a dose of potassium, as well as magnesium.

I'm a pizza delivery driver and a lot of my friends wait tables or bartend so I always tip really well. I have a lot of respect for waiters/waitresses because there's a decent amount work involved and they really have to earn their money. My job is really easy, you don't have to spend a lot of time with the customer but you do end up putting a lot of miles on your car and using a lot of gas so there's that aspect of tipping. Even if the service is HORRIBLE, I always end up brushing it off as "oh they were having a bad day"
