I have, but I think the restaurant cooked it wrong. It was extremely slimy and elastic-y. I had to spit it out! Maybe I'll give it another go as in appetizer, so if I still don't like it, my
whole meal isn't ruined.
I can eat unrecognizable rings of calamari, but those tiny whole squids or a tentacle with suckers on it are a whoooole 'nother story. And I'll be honest, it's really just because deep sea
creatures kind of freak me out. Cephalopods are the worst, but even when eating a crustacean, I need to make sure I don't focus on how bug-like it looks.
YUM. I'm Asian, so I grew up eating just about everything. I just came back from a trip to China, and they put it on skewers. The tentacles are the best part!
I don't like it but not because it's slimy (in my experience, once it was cooked it wasn't slimy at all). I just don't like the texture or as a few people have mentioned, how it looks. It
just creeps me out with all the suckers...
I must confess, though, that I feel guilty if I stop to think about what I'm eating, which I never feel with any other meat--octopuses are really intelligent, fascinating creatures. My
husband, who used to work for a prawn fisherman and who had to deal with the octopuses that were hauled up in the traps, said that even after they were gutted and their beaks had been
removed, if they got out of the bucket, they headed straight for the boat's edge.
Octopus is great. Though i'd love to go to Korea or Japan where they serve actual raw octopus (octopus in northamerica is cooked even in sushi) And octopus is great in takoyaki!
muse, I kind of feel guilty too. Octopi are very cute and smart, which usually does not equal delicious as well. But they just happen to be all of the above. It's not fair.

Does it taste just like squid?
1Yes I love octopus - yum yum yum. And yes it tastes like squid but a little less chewy.

4nice vocab akay, cephalopod
5i would like to try it
6Well (properly) cooked octopus does not (should not) be slimy. Mmmm, delicious sea creatures.
7Never had it, would be scared to cook it, and wouldn't order it off a menu. I just have no desire to try it. I'll stick with shrimp and scallops.
8Yuck!
9I've had it on seafood pasta and and pizza. I enjoy it though it does look a little too lifelike at first.

11I'd try it...it might be okay if it's prepared properly.
12Food should not have tentacles. Or suckers. It kinda freaks me out.
TheBoy loves it, though. He takes great pleasure in grossing me out with it [for now] and is bound and determined to get me to love it too.
13Love it...as long as it's prepared correctly.
14Maybe if I was a Salachimorpha!
15mm just had some raw octopus at lunch!
