Last weekend, for the first time in a long time, I made the trek out to the Chinese supermarket to buy some Asian ingredients. While in my favorite aisle — the snack aisle, of course — I spotted these Butter Coconut Cookies. I hadn't seen them in years, but immediately I had memories of being in my hometown's Asian grocery store, circa 1985, making the weekly shopping rounds with my mother. Right then, I knew I had to buy them! What foods make you nostalgic for your childhood?

I just got the coconut cookies last week
1My childhood favorite are "Glico Roasted Pretz" and "Calbee shrimp chips"
thanksgiving dinner , all of it.
Pop Tarts (because I wasnt aloud to have them)
2Fish Sticks!
No one ever wants them as an adult, but I definitely loved them as a kid
3campbell's tomato soup, fruit roll ups(was only allowed to eat these at other people's house), and COCONUT YOOHOO!!! I really miss coconut yoohoo
4Grilled cheese, PB&J, and mac and cheese
5Kudos bars
rice krispy treat cereal
capris sun
These are all things my mother never allowed me to have, but I gorged on them when I got to friend's houses.
6There was this cracker brand that I think is only available where I live (Philippines). It's called Marie, and their kind of like milk flavored and melt-in-your-mouth.
7Kraft macaroni and cheese and Ballpark hot dogs!
8Also, Stouffer's chicken, turkey, and beef pot pies
I was so into eating them after
school, before dinner. Wow, what an appetite I had as a growing kid!
9Pocky!
10Also, I have fond memories of my mom making Banquet Fried Chicken. The frozen kind in a box. I haven't had this in so long I don't even know if it's still around.
I remember those coconut cookies.
As for me, the white rabbit creamy candy with edible rice paper. My Grandma used to give them to me all the time. That candy was always in her pockets.
11Mother's Animal cookies - thank god they are back!
12Oatmeal Creme Pies, Schwan's ice cream bars, Cookie Crisp cereal, Moon Pies, Kool Aid, and my grandma's apple fritters. Those were foods we were allowed to eat only when we were at Grandma's house, so they were a treat.
Also, those peanut squares...little squares of cake covered with lots of white cream frosting and peanuts. My mom would buy a box of them and let me have one and she'd eat the other three, lol.
13Starcrunches, ham sandwiches and those mini powdered sugar donuts...they are so odd yet so good.
14ButterRum lifesavers(grandma's treat),Keebler Munch'ems(discontinued), Yoohoo, and everytime my mom makes a traditional arab dish, it reminds me of being a little kid when we used to eat it a lot more. Always brings back the feel good memories and comfort.
15Lucky Charms
16peanut butter and jelly
marshmallow fluff
macaroni and cheese
jello
hot dogs
cotton candy
candy canes
rice krispy treats
spaghettios
17pizza rolls
frozen pizza
Rice a roni
Believe it or not, my mom used my cold hot dog sandwiches for my lunches. I haven't had one in years! Also 'Smores cereal and fruit leathers.
18Yan Yan!
19GlowingMoon - I remembered those candies too. They now have different favor in stores - Lychee, coffee, chocolate ...
20Tater tots, for sure. Also soft serve ice cream.
21Thanksgiving dinner is one for me too. We made all of it for each holiday, and sometimes just for fun. It never got old, and we still do it. I looooooove it.
orange push pops, fruit salad with cantelope, watermelon, and honeydew and nothing else, and shepherds pie.
22The first thing that comes to mind is fruit snacks like fruit roll-ups, fruit by the foot, gushers, sodalicious etc. These among many other foods
23Moon pies, oreos, my nana's egg custard, pop tarts, tater tots, lots of things that are very, very bad.
24Pot Rodger and wh*res Coddle, both home made. Ok I`m really Irish not Irish American. Oh and Poteen is over rated, we used to get it with sugar and water when we were ill and as such it has stuck as an illness drink.
25Ooh it changed the name, profanity filter obviously but that is what it is called and delicious. Potatoes onions pork sausages and bacon steamed in a big pot in the oven. Serve with pickled beetroot. Flavours blend so well.
26Kool aid. Tomato soup. Hot dogs. Grilled cheese sandwiches. That kind of thing. There were also brownies with powdered sugar my grandmother used to make. Believe it or not even pickles since my mom and my grandmother used to make them fresh and keep them in big crocks. I could make a longer list but those first things come to mind.
27What my kids are looking for are cookies that used to be called either "Fiddle Sticks" or, as they remember, "Flick Flacks," though not sure about the spelling. The only ones we remember were made by Mother's but I believe they haven't been made for some years.
