Even before my afternoon stint as a barista, I was an enthusiastic fan of Starbucks. I go there on an almost daily basis, and often bring in my reusable Starbucks "to go" tumbler. When I first bought it, I had the manager at my local store use a Sharpie to scribble shorthand for my regular order on the side (genius!).
This Summer, Starbucks developed an even edgier tumbler for the warm weather: a cold to-go cup, complete with green straw, constructed in clear lucite. It sold out almost immediately, and is now being sold on eBay for as much as $50 a pop. What do you think of it: impractical or brilliant?

i have one of these and love it!
I have 4 and my family loves them. We were trying to get them produced at my work. We want to do away with the water bottles and use this for the watter cooler as a transition in the going green process. Couldn't find the manufacturer. Anyone know where I can buy these wholesale?
Leilanic1, how did you get it? They are ever so elusive!
My daughters boyfriend works for Starbucks and he can't even get me one!!
I have the grande sized tumbler and I LOVE IT! My friend at work broke hers and was trying to find a new one, but saw them for $50 on Ebay and was appalled! I am so happy that I decided to buy it when I first saw it!
I love it! I have the "We Are Happy to Serve You" cup from Urban Outfitters, but this one is way better! (And I'm not even a huge Starbucks fan.)
I saw it in the Starbucks online store the other day!
I absolutely ADORE MINE!!! I had no idea it was such a hot ticket item!
I use it everyday! and I mean EVERYDAY! It is like my crackberry!
So, here's my problem with Starbucks plastic cup products. They're made in China and appear to use the kind of plastic that leaches BPAs into your beverage. It's especially bad with their hot tumblers, but not much better with the cold ones, particularly if you run them through the dishwasher. These are cute, but I'm staying far away from them.
so hot! omg thats awesome.
I don't understand why it's so exclusive. These things have been all over the Starbucks in Manhattan since early spring. I was so tempted, but I don't carry around cold drinks other than water.
I hate Starbucks, ergo, I hate it.
omg! i bought this in may at the starbucks by my house...honestly i haven't even gotten around to using it yet but i do love it!! no idea people were looking for these?!
I love these, I have one of them but my husband works for starbucks and was able to get one when they first came out.
I bought one of these at a random Starbucks in Concord, CA like 6 months ago... how is that exclusive?
No one has said that they're exclusive, Yum said that they're elusive. And, after mentioning this to a friend who has been looking for one for months and looking for one for about a month myself, I agree with her! (This friend has looked the last several times she's been in Manhattan and has constantly looked online and hasn't been able to find them! I looked the last time I was in Manhattan and have looked on the Starbucks website, as well.)
Oh, and they're BPA-free.
I saw them at every Starbucks I went to in Asia this summer. I guess they're not that popular over there.
I personally would not buy one. I don't have cold drinks on the go often enough to justify purchasing one.
I think I was lucky and walked into my local Starbucks on the day they first put them out. I live in Boise so I don't think it has become such a hot commodity here yet.
I didn't realize these were uncommon.. the Starbucks in the Middle East have had these for a few years now. Probably 'coz it's $%!* hot and the iced drinks tend to sell all year round..
have it, love it!
Hi. Jamba juice started selling these a while back ,but still available for $9.95. EXACTLY the same as Starbucks branded one!
