Everything tastes better with bacon, and dates are no exception! I recently went to an end-of-Summer barbecue and couldn't stop eating these crispy bacon-wrapped dates. Of course, I had to ask the hostess for the simple recipe to share with you. This appetizer is super easy to make and can be prepared before the party, so your guests will be munching on the salty, sweet, and oh-so-satisfying bite-sized, bacon-wrapped dates the second they arrive at your home. Straight from the oven these apps are molten hot — be sure to allow time for them to cool. If you want to serve this addicting appetizer at your next party, keep reading.
Original Recipe by Chelsea Hall
Ingredients
1 16-ounce package of bacon (regular thickness-not thick cut), cut into thirds
1 8-ounce package of pitted dates
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit. Position oven rack in the center of the oven. Cover a cookie sheet with tin foil.
- Wrap a piece of bacon around a date. Make sure the bacon seam is placed facing downwards on the cookie sheet. Press firmly on the bacon wrapped date, so it is less likely to unravel. Repeat until all of the dates are wrapped in bacon.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until crisp. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Makes 25-30 bacon wrapped dates.

You had me at that word...................BACON!!!!!!!!!!!
1I just got all tingly-like.
2Oooh yum! I had bacon-wrapped dates at Cafe BaBaReeba in Vegas last month, and they were to die for! I'm totally making these!
3Nope. Nope. Nope.
4These are also fabulous with a tiny bit of goat cheese stuffed inside the date.
5i had something similar at Gitane in SF but the dates were stuffed with goat cheese. the sweetness of the dates offset the saltiness of the cheese and bacon and they were absolutely delish!
6I prefer bacon wrapped fresh figs over dates, but both are delicious
7I've had these stuffed with gorgonzola...YUM!
8ive had them with sweetened condensed milk.. SO GOOD! since im fasting for ramadan right now, nothing tastes better then dates and milk after a 14 hr fast.
9Avec in Chicago does this but with chorizo stuffed in the date and they sit in a spicy marinara. Ridiculously delicious! Yum
10I've been making a version of this during the holiday season for years. The only differences being I stuff the date with a pecan and only use half a slice of bacon. They are always the first to go at parties.
11I have some Medjools to use up - yes, this is a winner!
12I make these stuffed with sausage.
13The first time I had bacon-wrapped dates (stuffed with goat cheese) it was at a pool party of all places. People were literally surrounding the oven as they were coming out, clad in swimsuits and towels and dripping with water, just crazy for those dates. They were so good.
14Oooh in Australia we call them devils on horseback, but we do them with dates. Very retro 70s
15I'm sure those taste good, Hello, bacon!...but that pic makes it look very unappetizing to me.
16Drizzle w/ balsamic when they come out of the oven, even better
17remove the pit, fill with gorgonzola and then wrap - yum
18Had these, but with an almond stuffed where the pit used to be; made a good contast in texture. Awesome!
