KFC's Kentucky Grilled Chicken made quite the headlines when it first hit the market — and the media attention doesn't look like it's about to stop. Yesterday vegetarian advocacy group Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, or PCRM, announced its plans to sue KFC, alleging the chain failed to warn customers that its grilled chicken contains a carcinogen. The cancer-causing compound in question? PhIP, an amino that can be found in grilled meat. PCRM says it submitted samples to an independent lab that confirmed the presence of the carcinogenic compound in all pieces.
The suit follows a similar 2008 PCRM case against McDonald's, Burger King, Chick fil-A, Chili's, Applebee's, Outback Steakhouse, and TGI Friday's. Burger King, the only chain that wound up settling with the advocacy group, now posts signs inside its California locations warning against the possible presence of PhIP.
Do you believe these findings? Are they enough to deter you from eating Kentucky Grilled Chicken?

"PhIP, an amino that can be found in grilled meat." -- so, does all grilled chicken have cancerous amino acids? if so, LEAVE THEM ALONE. are they going to sue Cuisinart for making grill pans, giving innocent citizens the tools for mass murder by grill mark?
1This is silly. Fast food is bad for you period. If you are worried about your health don't east fast food.
2ugh. everything will give you cancer. this is stupid.
3a lot of vegetarian groups have a problem with KFC because of the way they treat their animals. While I think they kind of have a point there, this just seems like they're going after them based on carcinogens (which it sounds like are in all grilled meat) when they're really mad about the treatment of their animals.
4Cannot say how much I agree with Hinkey.
Cannot say how much snarkypants just made me laugh.
5lol, next headliner would be agoraphobia (those who don't like being outside) advocacy group sue the sun because the rays cause skin cancer!
6I agree with Mamasitamalita. This lawsuit sounds frivolous.
Also, are they really "physicians?" I thought physicians would be more rational than that.
7The fact that KFC's food sucks is enough to deter me from eating there!
8I think these "physicians" would do better suing over the addition of beef suet to the KFC grilled chicken.
9I don't get it, if all frilled meat has this, then how can they sue?
10This makes no sense
11COME ON. No one's dumb enough to not know everything that says 'grilled' also says 'carcinogen'. Pointless. They'd do anything for media attention!
12People will do anything to get public attention... everything will give you cancer so don't slander kfc image talking bout people will get cancer if they eat it... let people make they're own decisions... and if you people are vegetarians why in the hell were yall in kfc looking for reason to sue?!
13They are vegetarian advocacy group -- so it is important to their mission to point out examples in which meats are unhealthy. I agree that is it is *for publicity* -- in our society, that is one of the more effective methods of educating. Yes, all grilled meat contains this carcinogen.
It is important to point out to people who think they are making a healthy decision by choosing grilled chicken that it may not actually be that healthy. KFC has marketed the chicken as "healthy." That's wrong. Hey, if you like grilled chicken, and you don't care about consuming a little PHiP, then fine.
It is not true that everything causes cancer.
