As much as I love s'mores, it's nice to have variety in a weekend getaway menu. When planning a classic camping trip, pack the fixing for s'mores and the fixings for these delicious baked banana boats. Kids and grownups will both have fun selecting the fillings and stuffing the bananas. Tightly wrapped in foil, these bananas are cooked over an open fire. It's quick, hassle free, and you won't have to hunt for sticks in the dark! To see how to make this sweet treat, read more

Baked Banana Boats
From The Camping Club
1 firm banana
1 tbsp. chocolate chips
1 to 2 tsp. walnut pieces
2 to 3 tsp. mini-marshmallows
- On a flat surface, arrange a double thickness of aluminum foil large enough to wrap around the banana. Leaving the skin on the banana, cut a long slit along the inside curve.
- If the banana is very curved, flatten it slightly with the palm of your hand. Press chocolate chips, walnuts, and marshmallows into the opening. (For variety, fill the canoes with granola, oreos, M&M's or trail mix.)
- Wrap the banana with aluminum foil and lay it on hot coals. Cook it for 8 to 10 minutes or until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted. Let the boat cool slightly, then eat the inside with a spoon.
Makes 1 serving.

3i used to LOVE these when i'd go to girl scout camp! mmmmmm
4These sound so yummy!
5Ooooh I would always make these in Girl Guides!! We would also make ones where you took a cake donut, cut it in half (like you were cutting a bagel), put in a ring of pinapple and then stuff the middle with chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. Then like the banana you just wrap it well with foil and stick it on the fire for a few minutes. They were messy but DELICIOUS!
6i say broil these foil boats in a toaster oven?? same effect? man i want one. i'm thinking caramel, marshmellows, and sliced almonds....yum!
7sounds great!
8ooh my family and i always made doughboys for our camping dessert - take a storebought crescent roll, wrap it around a stick and cook it over the fire... dip it in melted butter, and roll in cinnamon and sugar. so delicious!!
9Ohhhh, with caramel!
10My family called these things angels on horseback. We used to do a lot of camping. My mom even made her own chuck box.
11I love camping and now want to go again!!! This looks AWESOME! I can't wait to plan a trip. Im either thinking Joshua Tree or a beach camping trip. Maybe the redwoods later on! Camping rules!
12Oh my God, I totally forgot about these! We used to make them at Girl Scout camp. I go on yearly camping trip with friends and we always avoid s'mores since they're so messy. I'll have to bookmark this for next years trip. Yum!
