I'll try the food before I put salt or pepper on it, if at all. I find it kind of rude to fill your plate, then automatically cover everything with salt and pepper before even sampling the
food.
If it's something that I've eaten before and I know it needs salt and pepper, say macaroni and cheese, I will put some on. But if it's something I've never tried before, I wait and see how it
tastes before putting it on.
Actually, it depends on who cooked it. If I go to restaurants or places I don't know who's cooking, I don't put anything extra. If it's my gran, then salt is a must.
I once read this article that said if you go out to dinner with your boss, and immediately salt and pepper your food that they see this as you not willing to try without making something
yours first. Or something like that. Ever since then, I don't salt and pepper until I've tasted, no matter what it is. I also don't do it because my BF puts ketchup on EVERYTHING, and it
really hurts me that he isn't willing to try my food first. In general, I don't end up adding a whole lot of anything to food anyhow. I like to keep my sodium low and I hate when things are
too peppery.
I always try the food first, but I looove pepper. I cook with it a lot. But the ultimate spice is of course Tony Cacheres. I will skip both salt and pepper if there is Tony's available.
I've added pepper a few times in my life, but I've only added salt once. My aunt made some soup that turned out to have almost no flavor; she salted hers first and said it was better, so I
tried it. It was better, but it didn't inspire me to start salting things.
Meh. I just never got into the habit, so I guess I don't really see the point.
I don't use salt or pepper until I've tasted something. Most things are salty enough! I don't like it when the waitstaff in restaurants ask you if you want fresh ground pepper, when you
haven't even tasted the food yet.
Usually no, but I love a little salt and pepper on my eggs. I also agree that it's kind of rude to dump salt and pepper all over your food without even tasting it first.
almost always. i like things spicy so extra pepper is great and salt really enhances the taste of a lot of food - makes many things more edible if it isn't all that great to begin with.

This soup ends up being a good source of three blood pressure-lowering minerals since the milk adds calcium and the potatoes deliver a dose of potassium, as well as magnesium.
I said no, but I do with one thing: gravy. I always add a little salt and pepper to that.
But my grandfather will add salt to EVERYTHING! Watermelons, beef, cantaloupe, you name it. YUCK!

3i usually go crazy with pepper in soup, and things i make at home...so yummy!
4The only thing that I might put salt on is a hard-boiled egg. The only thing that I will definitely put salt on is air-popped popcorn.
5I try not to add extra s/p, but occasionally some of my food will scream for it

13I always taste my food first and add accordingly... but I usually try not to salt
14I automatically salt things like eggs, or popcorn, but I usually try the food first to see if it even warrants any salt or peppering.

22I usually pepper my food before tasting it, but NEVER salt it.
23I cook with pepper and salt but I never really season it after it is cooked.
24i only season it after i taste it. otherwise, i could over season and the dish will be ruined.
25i'l try it and sometiems add salt, never pepper. unless it's fresh ground on a salad or soemthing...
26Only eggs. Otherwise, I taste first, season second.
27Yes! I salt and pepper everything. My husband tells me I over do it. I can't eat my food unless I see seasoning on top of it first.
28No. I like to taste my food before adding.
29Never add salt but some fresh ground pepper is good on almost anything.
30i try to eat it with out extra salt first
31i love pepper, but don't use salt.
32I gotta taste it first. Otherwise, you could ruin it!
