Yes! We got a cuisinart one as a wedding present. It's AWESOME. I've used it a bunch of times already - it's a very useful tool to have in the kitchen.
I have one and love it. My kitchen is way too small for a real-deal blender, so we use this as our blender. It's nice to have when making chowders too.
I first had one when I lived in Southern Spain. Everyone had one — the house I rented came with one! — so they could make gazpacho. Since then, I haven't been able to live without mine.
My husband convinced me to buy a pair of them that we found at a garage sale, so I took them home and cleaned them up (they seem to have been stored in the garage for a while) and I love
them! In fact, I found another one at another garage sale this summer and bought it, too--I'm not sure why, exactly, but I don't ever want to find that I'm without a working one.
I've never really needed to use one; I've always just used my regular blender for things. Guess I don't feel like they're indispensable or anything like that.
I use mine every weekend for soup too; it makes it so much easier, just being able to blend straight in the pot, without worrying about transferring hot soup to the blender and back again.
Love them.
I just got one as a hand-me-down from a friend's mom, and I'm itching to try it out!! The boyf has a real love for creamy baked-potato soup so I may make that.

21I'm not crafty enough in the kitchen to use a blender so I don't own one.
