A restaurant in Nuremberg, Germany has figured out a way to eliminate bad service forever. How'd they do it? Simple, they eliminated service completely. At the bistro 's Baggers, which is now the first sit-down restaurant in the world without waiters, the waitstaff has been replaced by a fully automated ordering system. Each table has been connected to the kitchen via metal rails and meals are ordered via a touch-screen at each table.
Customers' orders are registered upstairs in the kitchen and a computer in the cellar keeps track of supply stocks. The system also calculates the likely delivery times for drinks and meals at every table and keeps customers informed.
What I want to know is what happens when the computers crash, and how do you get a refill, or send something back?

wow that is very high-tech but what would aspiring actors do while trying to pay the rents? lol.
1it kind of reminds me of a giant gumball machine
2That looks alright for a casual, fun meal out. But when we go out a little more upscale, I think I'd still want personal service.
3This makes me sad, I would be out of a job. I meet so many people that way.
4they sort of have this in japan, in certain restaurants. its kind of interesting and fun to point, click, and put each dish in order of arrival, but i wouldnt imagine it to be completely practical for too many places.
5It is a really interesting concept that I would be willing to try out. But I really do like the human to human contact with a server.
Imagine if that machine went nuts and started spitting food out everywhere!!
6Christ-on-a bike!!! I just heard that like 30 percent of Mississippi is obese and my state Michigan is in the top 10. We need to walk and service others face to face. Unless the place was designed for Physically Challanged people. Forgetaboutit!!
7So....do you leave a can of WD40 for a tip?
8what happens if the food falls off the rails and onto the customer?
9Haha.. this would mean no tipping!! awesome! I would definitely give it a whirl.
10It just sounds too gimmicky and not very customer friendly to me.
11What if you wanted to ask questions about the menu?
12I hate going to restaurants because its hit or miss with the service, and lately its been miss. So bring on the automated waiters.
Remember when TIP meant ...To Insure Proper service..and you would give it BEFORE the meal....
13I was just thinking about the refills myself! But this would be a great idea in my book. The wait staff seem to have ruined a lot of meals for me lately.
14I think there's something kind of like this in Winnipeg, MB. It's called the Sushi Train, and a miniature train runs through the restaurant, and people take what plates they want to eat, and then pay according to the color of plate they had.
15I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know we all have dealt with bad service at a restaurant. However, I have had some great experiences at some restaurants too. I went to Pickles in Atlantic City and met the best waitress over there. I love good customer service. I don't think I want a computer serving me food.
16interesting but yeah, what about jobs
