Depends on the product - I buy store brand cleaning supplies too and some toiletries. Also milk. There's usually very little difference in the result but a huge difference in price.
There are some things that are generic that aren't very good but I usually buy generic first because I'm a bargain shopper , so by now I've figured out what is worth the savings and what isn't.
And I agree with askmetostay - I totally dig off-brand diet soda! I think it's just as tasty
I buy a lot of generic foods, lots of generic canned goods. However, I don't like generic soda; the formulations usually taste vastly different from the originals.
I don't buy generic pop usually but I will definitely buy things like canned/frozen veggies, and some of the store brands of pre-made food (frozen pizzas etc.) are getting really good!
Definitely buy Safeway pop over brandname. Both my husband and I like it better. Same goes for cleaning products. I can't pay more for the same thing, unless the brand stuff is on sale and is
cheaper. Thrifty's generic food is just as good as the rest, but I can't get it here in Vancouver, unless I drive far far away.
It all depends.
Some things have to be the real thing, but some things don't matter.
Like you need to buy Windex lol, the REAL thing, or else you get streaks...but I don't NEED to buy the real pop...to me it makes no difference.
i agree with ashcwebb, certain products HAVE to be the real thing. Target makes a pretty good generic brand, but i tried their version of teddy grahams (my weakness!), and i threw them away
in disgust. they sucked. i do buy alot of generic brand ingredients for cooking, and products for the house (toilet bowl cleaner, disinfectant, etc)
I'll buy store brand canned veggies and pain relievers, but you can't get me to swap my hidden valley ranch dressing, or A1 steak sauce for anything else!!
Did you know that in blind taste tests using various generic brands, generics mostly won out like 4 to 1 over the brand name? I buy mostly generics, especially Publix because their stuff is
so quality.
I do not buy generic soda though. Gotta have the real Coca~cola!
I try to buy mostly organic and local. Does Whole Food's 365 brand count as generic? I buy that sometimes. I buy a lot of Central Market brand as well, but that's a Texas thing.
Sometimes, and I do compare ingredients lists of the brand and generic items just to make sure that most of the ingredients are the same or comparable.
I do the same thing as you, mollipop. but that mainly has to do with medications and the like, since there is such a large price difference between brand name and generic medicines.
I started buying all generic products once I started college and got my own place because I'm on a tight budget. They taste exactly the same so it's not worth it to me to buy name brand
things anymore.
When I was little I remember anywhere that had free pop used generic versions, and I always hated them (even before I would know they were generic brands). I've never bought a generic drink
in my life because of that.
yes, I hardly ever can afford the brand named goods, and the generics are always as good anyway. I love discount supermarkets that deal in a large quantity of generic foods! Praise them, they
saved me from starving on many occasions!
There is nothing wrong with buying generic. I have no problem buying it. However, soda is probably the only thing I won't buy generic. I once had Acme soda and it was awful. I also had
generic Ginger Ale. That was awful too.

I buy all my meds as generics, if they're available. I get store brand canned beans or cleaning supplies, but that's about it.
1Depends on the product - I buy store brand cleaning supplies too and some toiletries. Also milk. There's usually very little difference in the result but a huge difference in price.
2Sometimes, only because I am a cheapo
3Sometimes I do.
4i actually like generic soda better than most name brands....winn dixie or kroger brand cherry cola is AMAZING.
5Depends what it is, and what's on sale. There's some stuff I don't buy generic for, but for the most part, the differences are minimal.
6ha ha ha Dr. Skipper. Great!

8I buy a lot of generic foods, lots of generic canned goods. However, I don't like generic soda; the formulations usually taste vastly different from the originals.
9I agree with everyone above, some generics are fine. I do have to have my Coca Cola though.
10I buy generics all the time. They taste the same to me.I love going to Walmart because I also buy there brand of food and drinks.
11I don't buy generic pop usually but I will definitely buy things like canned/frozen veggies, and some of the store brands of pre-made food (frozen pizzas etc.) are getting really good!

16I hardly ever buy name brand. I buy Publix Brand everything
17Sometimes, most of the time I find the generic to taste the same and its cheaper. But sometimes you just have to have the real thing.

19I buy generics as often as I can, but do not mess with this native Texan's Dr Pepper.
20Hell to the no, in most cases.
21Yes, unless it has a Box Top on it.
22I try to buy mostly organic and local. Does Whole Food's 365 brand count as generic? I buy that sometimes. I buy a lot of Central Market brand as well, but that's a Texas thing.
23It really depends. I tend to like namebrands.
24It really depends on what it is. Some stuff I don't mind buying cheaper if it won't taste that different.

28Sometimes, but hardly ever.
29def depends on the product. some generic products are exact copies. some are worse than the real thing. some are even better than the real thing!
30It depends... Sometimes the genuine thing is the best.
31Sometimes, they're all the same!
And sometimes it just depends on the money I got... :\
When I was little I remember anywhere that had free pop used generic versions, and I always hated them (even before I would know they were generic brands). I've never bought a generic drink in my life because of that.
32Sometimes, but not really with food...I can taste the difference...
33i love target's generic brands. so cheap and so good!
34yes, I hardly ever can afford the brand named goods, and the generics are always as good anyway. I love discount supermarkets that deal in a large quantity of generic foods! Praise them, they saved me from starving on many occasions!
35I feel like that Kirkland soda they sell at Costco tastes better than the brand name stuff.
36My budget requires me to buy generic! I love food, but there are better things to spend money on.
37There is nothing wrong with buying generic. I have no problem buying it. However, soda is probably the only thing I won't buy generic. I once had Acme soda and it was awful. I also had generic Ginger Ale. That was awful too.
38i love dr. skipper! i buy generic meds apart from midol. i buy generic pop and snacks all the time.
