Oo, I also made peppermint bark last year at Christmas. It was yummy at first, but I used white chocolate chips instead of good white chocolate, and the white chocolate parts turned funny after a while. Not rotten or anything, just... chalky...

I love making candy at home. I make toffee every year for Christmas, I make peanut brittle, fudge, and I tried making taffy once. I don't think I'd do taffy again though; it was way too time-consuming for what I ended up with. I probably didn't pull it long enough because it didn't have the right texture. Most of the time I get great results, though. The secret is to USE YOUR CANDY THERMOMETER!!!

Does matzoh candy count? It's basically just a syrupy chocolately goop drizzled onto matzohs, and then you sprinkle other stuff on top of it (coconut, peanuts, m&ms .. what ever floats your boat, really. my favorite is chopped up candy canes!), wait for it to dry and break it into smaller pieces. My aunt makes it for Hanukkah every year.

Yeah I made a panettone once and decided to make my own candied orange peels for it. I enjoyed that. I made cake truffles this past weekend--I got the hang of chocolate dipping and it's actually pretty fun! Strangely I don't enjoy baking very much though.

I said that I make it rarely, but now that I think about it, I definitely make it more than just seasonally! Truffles are my favorite around Christmas, but I also make a lot of caramel-based candies and barks.

Oh boy, those candied orange peels took forever! I ended up letting them soak overnight and then doing the final coating at like 6am the next morning before a Hanukkah party. I don't think I'd do that again. You can buy candy that tastes just as sweet! Lol
