Over the weekend, something monumental happened: I discovered what is quite possibly the world's most perfect Fall cocktail. The Normandy, as it's called, has cool weather written all over it, with ingredients like cranberries, green apples, and Calvados, a type of French apple brandy from — you guessed it — Normandy.
The tipple balances all the elements you'd ever hope for in a drink. It's simultaneously cool and warm, sweet and tart. Despite being incredibly basic, its elegant simplicity has more sophistication than most of today's overthought cocktails. My only problem? Now that the pursuit for The Thanksgiving Cocktail is over, what do I look forward to? The drink to end all other Autumn drinks, when you read more.

This sounds so delicious, I might also have to make it for Thanksgiving!
1looks tastey
2Looking for a drink to make for my Turkey day party...can't wait to try this!
3I love Calvados and although this sounds like a perfectly wonderful drink, (and I may splurge on one for myself!) I'm not sure I'm ready to hand this out at a cocktail party...unless you found a cheaper version of Calvados than I have. If you did, by all means please share. My last bottle, and not a really good one, cost $30... and it's a lovely after dinner drink in place of Armagnac or Cognac!
4Eluethera, I spotted a smaller bottle of Calvados at the store for under $25, but if that doesn't work, you could also try applejack, or just regular brandy. Hope that helps! Trust me — it's worth it!
