Isn't it the worst when you chop veggies or grate cheese, and your cutting board slides all over the counter? This happens to me all the time, especially when I'm using a plastic cutting board that was warped in the dishwasher. Luckily my handsome buddy Javi showed me what he does to stop slippage and promote perfectly uniform dices.
- Wet a paper towel in the sink.
- Place on the counter in the area where you will be doing the food preparation.
- Put the cutting board on top of the paper towel to secure in place.
Voila, happy chopping!!
Note: This works best with plastic cutting boards. While it works well for wooden cutting boards, if the towel is constantly too wet, you run the risk of warping the wood after many uses.

That's a great idea! Tell your husband thanks!
1ERROR, your handsome buddy Javi. Should had read more closely, I just got so excited about that idea!
2That's what I do to keep my kitchenaid from sliding all over too! Works Great!
3wet bar towels works well, too.
4Also you could use those drawer liners that are made with rubber grip and just use stick it to the bottom of it.
5I'm with Amanda-La, I use the little leftover strips from when I lined my drawers. It's a translucent nubbly plastic I got at Ikea and it works great. Washable too ... no waste! No slips.
6Good idea! I just bought a new cutting board at BB&B, and it has rubber corners that keep it still.
7I use cotton kitchen towels for this, they absorb a lot of the sound of chopping too!
I also use my cotton towels under a dough rolling mat I have to prevent sliding and under the food processor for easy cleanup when making doughs and such when tiny amounts of flour escape the processor.
Great tip!
8Hey!! I thought I was the only one who did that!!
9cool! great idea!
10I learned this trick in culinary school, except we used wet dish towels instead of paper towels. It works great!
11hey partysugar- i just read that warped wooden cutting boards are really susceptible to major kitchen germs. it freaked me out so much that i actually got rid of my favorite old warped board and started using my huge chopping block instead. i miss it, but at least i don't worry about chicken juice getting sucked up into the wood.
12Just put a dish towel under it instead. A wet or dry one will work. Will save you from wasting paper towels and will be a lot easier to clean up than a wet paper towel that's been stuck to your counter.
13I use to do that too, but it's not allowed in restaurants bc it's unsanitary. We used something else that works well.. I can't think of the name, i wanna say it's like drawer liner... hmm, i'll have to think of it.
