When I was growing up, canned cranberry jelly was a part of our menu every Thanksgiving. With it's rich color, cylindrical shape, and smooth coolness, it was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I have since learned to love a more sophisticated homemade fresh cranberry sauce, but the canned cranberry holds a special place in my heart. It's ideal for making leftover sandwiches. How do you feel about it?

Party, I'm so glad you said that! I grew up on the canned stuff too, and while I know homemade cranberry sauce is far superior, a can of jellied Oceanspray cranberry sauce still holds a special place in my heart, too. I know it's weird, and can-shaped, and true foodies feel like they have to hate it, but the flavor is very reminiscent of childhood Thanksgivings, it's as familiar as my mom's stuffing. And while I'm excited to make a gourmet cranberry sauce (or two?!) this year, I'll have both on my plate at Thanksgiving dinner, thankyouverymuch.
Love it and miss it, especially the sucking sound it makes coming out of the can.
I love it, love it, love it. I don't care for the fou-fou whole cranberry sauce. I grew up on the canned cranberry and it reminds me of home.
I'm not a fan of it, but my aunt loves it so we always have a can of it on the table at Thanksgiving dinner. I never liked the texture of it.
I love it, although we always got the 'whole berry' canned type when I was growing up. It's nice to have some berry texture. I've made my own cranberry sauce from scratch several times, and it was good, but I still like the canned stuff more.
Love it, ya gotta have it! If there is no can shaped cranberry jelly on the table, it's just not Thanksgiving. I feel it's silly and gives some whimsy to the table.
Only from scratch for me. I had this one as a kid and I don't have any fond memories of the jelly. I wouldn't eat it.
Eww! I really can't stomach this stuff! I like my moms homemade recipe, except she makes me fix it every thanksgiving now! It wouldn't be thanksgiving without it.
Hate it, but not because it's tacky or whatever. I just don't like cranberry sauce.
I'm not American, so I didn't grow up on anything, and it baffled me when I first heard that absolutely everybody I knew had never even tried home made cranberry sauce. I like it so much better, I could eat it with a spoon!

I like it.
Only in small doses--it's a little too sweet for me.
hate it
I can't have Thanksgiving without it... I can eat a whole can myself
It's not Thanksgiving without a cranberry sauce shaped like a can on table!
Call me white trash, but there's nothing better than the sound of that stuff slurping out of the can! I make my own cranberry chutney, so for the jellied and non-lumpy stuff, canned is king!
we always have some on a fancy plate, still in the can shape, sitting next to the homemade stuff of course.
I don't like cranberry sauce at all...gross.
