Twenty of China's famous Terracotta soldiers are currently on display at the British Museum in London. The exhibit, which runs until April 6, 2008, is the largest of its kind outside of China.
So what do terracotta soldiers have to do with food? The folks at The Pastry Case bakery have created their own army. Dubbed "The Pannacotta Army" — although no pannacotta is actually involved — the army consists of over 200 miniature gingerbread warriors, each in their own battle garb.
According to a press release, Kelly Burgess of Roberts Bakery/The Pastry Case said:
"We have been amazed at the interest shown in the Terracotta army and wanted to treat Cheshire visitors to a private viewing, so we came up with our own idea of the Pannacotta Army."
The army will be on display at the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival in Cheshire County, UK.
I'd love to see the terracotta soldiers, but think a gingerbread army is fantastic too. What do you think?

These look so cool! And, the original terracotta warriors are also interesting, for those interested in history.

I'm so jealous that London gets this exhibit! But unless this is a travelling exhibit (which I doubt), I'm sure China has an ongoing exhibit somewhere that I'll just have to make a point to see someday.
2Now if history was taught like this, i'd probably pay more attention to it. ;P
3This is too cute there is a replica of the army near where I live...
4The statues are a traveling exhibit. I saw some of the soldiers at the DeYoung in 2000. If I remember correctly, one life of taken for each statue, to send with the emperor on his journey to the afterlife.
5cool! i'm going to China and Xian specifically to see those guys in person (the ones still in the ground) and some other terracotta soldiers for a different emperor etc. next month!!!
