Is it just me, or is there something a little bit odd about Taco Bell reopening in Mexico? In a country where a great, inexpensive taqueria is never too far away, is there really room for a fast food taco giant? Actually make that a "tacostadas" giant; the signature hardshell tacos have been renamed as a play on the word "tostada."
Hoping that they do better than last time — Mexico's Taco Bell branches opened in 1992 and closed less than two years later — they're hoping to brand themselves as a fast-food alternative that is not Mexican food. They're even including more "American" foods like french fries — topped with cheese, cream and ground beef — and soft-serve ice cream.
What do you guys think? Do you think Mexican Taco Bell will make it this round?

I think that is silly
1so now people in Mexico can eat poorly made Americanized versions of their food? Uhm...what?
This reminds me of when I went to Australia and they were serving "American hot dogs" but it ended up being this weird hot dog-like thing still encased in like a sausage casing or something and it was served on a french bread-ish bun. I was like, "not so much American hot dog." this is why they kept it in Australia and didn't bring it to America. Same with attending a United States-themed dinner in England.
2I don't think this is going to be very well recieved.
3yeaah, not a good idea, im from mexico, and i would not eat there.
I have even better taco stands on the street
but we shall see, maybe it will atract some curios people
4I don't see them lasting very long. Why would Mexicans want to go to an American for Mexican food??? Oh and even if they sell fries that wouldn't make much of a difference since as far as I know there are McDonald's in Mexico too lol.
5Nope. not going to last. Heck, I don't even go to taco bell in the states! why would anyone want to go to taco bell in mexico? if they want american food then just waddle over to a stupid McDs or burger king.
6instead of taco bell hit up a taqueria - it would be much much better
7since taco hell resembles nothing similar to mexican food, mexicans can enjoy it as "american" food... and get sick like the rest of us after eating a chalupa.
8That's kind of weird, but maybe they'll like it?
9thats dumb
10Sounds nasty. I'd rather eat Mexican food here in America! Plus, in NorCal we have Jimboy's!
11for our Mexican fast-food cravings.
12Ick. Toxic Hell shouldn't expand anywhere.
13At least Taco Bell isn't branding themselves as "mexican fast food." That would be sooooo ridiculous.
14OMG!
i think that's a joke... every Mexican who goes to taco bell for curiousity comes out saying WTF!! THIS IS IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM MEXICAN FOOD! so i have no idea why would they open one in Mexico... hell, i feel a little offended when i eat Mexican food in any other country but Mexico!
but i guess the same happens with Italians and pizza and Japanease with sushi and all
what's with the world not respecting traditional cuisine!! haha
15Well, this is my first comment, hi all, Im Javier and I from mexico, and I taste taco bell in usa, and i dont like, i have better food in each corner, to try taco bell.
Bye all!!
