Ok here's the deal: You are at home and hungry for food. You have to cook up something scrumptious for you and your boyfriend/ girlfriend/ spouse/ child/ friend, but the ingredients you have on hand are limited.
You have cheddar cheese, fresh thyme, and all-purpose flour. Using these ingredients, along with whatever staples you currently have in your cupboard and refrigerator, what would you make? Tell me in the comments section below!
To see what I would make, read more
- I would start by finely chopping an onion and garlic.
- I would add this to a pot with melted butter, heating over medium heat.
- I would sauté the veggies until tender, then add the flour and cook to make a roux.
- Meanwhile I would boil whatever kind of pasta I have on hand, and grate the cheese and chop the thyme.
- After the roux has cooked for a few minutes, I would add liquid (chicken broth, milk, or heavy cream, depending on what's open in my fridge) to thicken the sauce. I would boil this a minute and slowly stir in the cheese and thyme.
- I would toss with the pasta and call it pasta and cheese. I would enjoy it in a shallow bowl paired with a cold beer.

I eat lots of chicken breast and always have some in the freezer so can I use one of them? I'll assume so!
I'd defrost it, make a cut in the side, stuff it with the thyme and cheese, fastened it with a toothpick, roll it in some of the flour then fry it in a centimetre or two of oil in a fry pan.
Hahaha, so unhealthy, but I think it'd taste great!
1I would make cheese and thyme biscuits, then fry some eggs, and put more cheese on top and make a sandwhich using the biscuits. I would serve it with a salad.
2Ok kimbit, I was thinking biscuits too! =)
3I know ya'll know I'd make some fried chicken and mashed potatoes!
4I would make mac and cheese and baked chicken with thyme.
5I would make a rosemary & thyme focaccia bread and top it off with grilled chicken strips and melted shredded cheddar. I'll down it with a refreshing iced honey green tea.
6I would make cornbread and mix in grated cheddar cheese and the thyme before baking. I would serve it with baked beans.
7maybe because it's 8am, but I immediately though, mmmm quiche!
8Cheese straws! Cheddar, thyme, cayenne pepper, oregano, garlic powder, butter, flour. mmm.. Then I'd make a big pot of chicken stew to eat them with!
9Yum, that is what I was going to make. Basically Mac & Cheese with some parsley for color.
10I make a wonderful (if I do say so myself) potato gratin w/ mustard & cheddar cheese (And while I usually use dried thyme, fresh would make it a little bighter!)
11I'd just toss a few pork chops in a skillet (and then into the oven to finish) as the main.
--Jeez, I'm hungry now --- Guess I'm going to have to make this for dinner tonight now!
Ooh, I like the biscuit idea!
12I would make cheese fondue with the tyme to flavor the cheese.
13The first thought that jumped into my head was, "I'd so make welsh rarebit." And I think that's the case. I like it a lot with beer instead of milk because it boosts the flavor and gives it an edge. I also like it with strong mustard and a healthy pinch of cayanne, but I think I'd ease back on both of those to make room for the heady fresh thyme.
Or, if I was with girlfrinds who don't fancy themselves welsh rarebit eaters I'd make popovers and tomato soup.
14Pizza! Ha. Don't ask...
15This looks like a great excuse to make the infamous, the glorious... FONDUE!!!
Shred the and set aside. With butter and FLOUR in a saute pan, make roux. Add diced onion and THYME, until trans. Stir in milk, salt, pepper... and Worcestershire if you're feeling saucey. Stirring in cheese in small groups to avoide clumpage. Serve in a fondue pot with a SMILE
...and some chunks of hearty bread and cubes of cooked potato. YAY!
16A whole meal or a snack? For a snack I'd make scones. For a meal I'd make chicken coated with the thyme and bread crumbs, and steamed veggies with cheese sauce.

I would make a cheese soufflee with thyme in it - delish and super easy. The only extra ingredients you would need: butter, eggs & milk.
19mmm I would make a cheese and herb souffle and serve it with some simply dressed mixed greens.
20Quiche! Mmmmm..
21Cheese puffs!
Make a basic choux pastry, but cut in the grated cheese and the thyme with the flour. Optional - use more cheese as a filling.
22gnocchi I think, or is that too potato-ey?
23Absolutely cheddar-thyme biscuits, one of my all-time faves!
