When I heard about the new microwave drawer recently introduced by Sharp, I couldn't help but think: How come someone hasn't come up with this idea before?
The microwave drawer works like a normal microwave, except that it's built like an oven. According to the Sharp website,
Now microwave cooking is easier for every cook in the family, with no need to remove the dish from the oven to check, stir, or turn the food. For even greater convenience, the new Easy Open Microwave Drawer Oven opens automatically with a gentle pull of the handle. Just push it gently and it closes automatically, even if your hands are full.
Sounds like the microwave of the future has arrived. I like it because the microwave has always been a bulky kitchen appliance, but with this sleek interpretation, you can have clutter free counter tops! How about you? What do you think?

2well, i don't use a microwave because i think they are bad for you. and i think it seems like it would be a little too accessible if you had kids. but for a house with no kids, pretty neat.

4Well thats certainly space efficient. I wouldnt mind that. Mine currently is above my stove, which is pretty cool, too, no counter space wasted.
5It looks really convenient! Kind of like those ovens that have built-in refrigeration, so you just put food in and tell it to cool it until you want it to start cooking. Awesome

7i'm convinced that microwaves aren't good for you.
8I don't know. I think I prefer my above the range model. I don't like to cook in the microwave, but it's good for warming up leftovers and such.
9I would have to use it to see if I like it but in theory it sounds great
10It looks like it would cost a lot to install...I don't know if it would be worth it. My regular one is just fine.

12I saw these in a home remodeling magazine a few months ago, it's a really good idea. Although i do really like mine that is above the stove.

19We actually have them in my office, and they LOOK really nifty, but the drawer is really slow, and I'm always afraid I'm going to break it, because it resists when you push.
20My only issue is that the microwaves heat things reallllly quickly, so there's a lot of popping, explosions... but then you can't clean the top of the microwave!!! We've only had them a year, and I'm afraid to think of what's inside there. Blech.
wow RMF, that's good to know! I was excited about them but I HATE when my microwave explodes things. Plus the door does sound annoying now that I think about it.
