Looks like Giada De Laurentiis has got a bun in the oven, and by that I don't mean a delicious loaf of bread! According to People, the celebrity chef just announced that she is expecting her first baby in early April. Here's more:
"When I found out I was pregnant I was in complete shock," De Laurentiis, 37, admitted. "I truly didn't believe it. I honestly thought, 'there has got to be a mistake.' "
But as she watched the sonograms – first a "lima bean" then a "lemon" – the Everyday Italian chef said that when she could make out fingers and toes, it "brought tears to my eyes."
She is a regular contributor on the Today show and announced the news on this morning's show. This will be her first baby. Congrats Giada!

12This is great. And I love the fact that she's 37 with her first child. I heard her say a while ago that people just can't understand that her husband her were together and married for so long and didn't have kids and always asked when she would have kids. I think this is so obnoxious when people force that down your throat.
Good for her for waiting and establishing her life and career before having a kid. And whether or not she wanted to be pregnant, congrats on embracing it!

I appreciate Syako's post. My husband and I are in our 30's. We've been together for almost 13 years. We're child-free by choice. We've recieved a lot of heat for our decision. We've been called everything in the book - selfish, lazy, unwise, etc. It's been rough sometimes.
I want to clarify that I'm not anti-children. My husband and I view having children as a matter of personal choice, that's all.

39good for her, and i totally agree with you glowingmoon. my husband and i have been together for almost 11 years (married a little over 3) and thus far we've eluded the child question, but only because i went back to grad school. i have a feeling we'll start getting the questions soon enough after i graduate...especially since i've got cousins who are about the same age and who already have (or are expecting) kids.
anyway, bit of a detour there, congrats to Giada!!! i think she'll make a fantastic mother. her baby girl will be well fed (from her, of course) and well dressed from dad (argh, i'm so jealous, i love anthropologie).

41That clip was just plain weird. She didn't seem at all excited about motherhood. Some of her comments and body language in that clip were just confusing.
