Rapini
Also known as broccoli rabe, a vegetable that is a related to the cabbage and turnip. This leafy green has long stalks scattered with clusters of tiny broccoli-like flowers. Used often in Italian cooking, these greens have a pungent, bitter flavor. It's great fried, steamed, braised, or in a salad or soup.

Oooo I think I might like this
1I love broccoli rabe with farfalle pasta. Brown some minced garlic in a skillet, add broccoli rabe, when wilted add a can of chicken stock, cover and cook for 15 minutes. Add cooked farfalle pasta to broccoli, one ladle of pasta water and grated cheese. Mix and serve. Enjoy!
2My mom cooks with this all the time...
3what spices does it pair with?
4I love broccoli rabe. I actually haunt my local Whole Foods hot food bar looking for their sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic and red chili flakes.
Michichan - you can do really anything with it. I prefer to either go italianesque adding minced garlic and red pepper flakes and a wee bit of olive oil or Asian with soy sauce, a touch of Asian five spice powder, fresh ginger, and chili flakes. I like the broccoli rabe al dente.
5Thanks for the tips!
