I was perusing the dairy section of my local Whole Foods Market when something caught my eye. There, on the top shelf, glinting like a jewel, was Organic Batter Blaster. At first I thought, WHAT??? WHY IS THIS HERE? I thought Batter Blaster would end up as one of those weird products — like HeadOn — that you hear about but never see. Then, once the shock wore off, I remembered that I was at Whole Foods, and that they have a pretty high standard when it comes to products they sell. So I did what every other foodie would have done: I picked up a can and put it in my cart.
Let me say right now, this product is surprisingly good. I was highly skeptical, and a bit worried by it, however, in the end it won me over. The batter itself oozes out of the can — I was expecting more of a high-powered spray like whip cream — and is a little difficult to shape, but not impossible. The flavor is like your standard fluffy pancake, only a tad sweeter. I've definitely had much, much worse at diners across America.
Would I buy this product again? Probably not, however I could see where it would come in handy. In just a few short minutes, we were eating our fill of pancakes. If I were a hungover college student or a busy mom, and just wanted to have decent tasting pancakes for myself or my brood, then it would definitely make sense. The ingredient list didn't look too weird — the first two ingredients are filtered water and organic wheat flour — they were super simple to make, and as the checkout guy at Whole Foods said, "Hey, sometimes you just want one pancake."
Have you seen Batter Blaster at your store? If so, will you end up trying it?

Hahahahaha so cute!
i fall into the hungover college student category so yes i will definately try this! At my boyfriend's house they don't keep everything stocked so if i wanted to make breakfast for him i would have to go to the store and get the egss, milk, etc...which is why this is so easy!
I have never seen this but would definately try them!
sounds like my kind of thing since i cant cook. im a pro at burning stuff though haha
I looked for it monday night at the store but my local store doesn't have it yet. I'm the worst at making pancakes. I would love to try this.
I fall in the busy mom and pancake lover categories... I have been looking for this locally, I have not been able to find it in AZ yet. So, yes, I really want to try it! I have not yet seen a review that says it is horrible, everything I have read says it is surprisingly good and not as bad as they thought...
ok i kinda wanna try it now
i would DEFINATELY try this...
My mom used to make "animal pancakes" when I was little. She would put pancakes batter (thinned with a little extra milk) in a squeeze bottle. She melted chocolate chips for eyes. My brother and I often had to guess what they were (batter is not the most precise medium) but it is still such a fond memory. If only one of us had the foresight to market to Whole Foods!
I'm a busy mom and my kid love pancakes.I want to try this.
Hmmm.. i just may have to try this once. There've been many a times that i've had a hangover and desperatley wanted pancakes- but it was just too much work !!
how many pancakes of what size does it make? Enough for 4?
I have never seen this stuff, but based on your review, I would be willing to give it a try. I agree with the picture - Yum!
I'm going to run over to WF and get one. My son would love this!
I'm not sure how many servings are in the container, but we more than enough for two and the container wasn't empty.
I will definately try this.
By the way, I use HeadOn. Since trying to get pregnant, I don't want to use regular meds for headaches, HeadOn has really helped. I get it at Walgreen's.
I can't wait to try this!!! I am such a sucker for gimmicky products!! I am single and one pancake is perfect!!!
I wonder how long it would keep in the fridge.
I like how you wrote "YUM." Might be a good idea to buy a can and make little ABC's for my 3-year old. At least it's organic. Thanks for the rundown.
it would definitely be helpful for interesting shapes and letters, but I think i'll stick with making mine from scratch.
I purchased a tube of head on at CVS.
My local Whole Foods doesn't sell Batter Blaster - I love that name!
It's organic too?
I would definitely try it!
You misused the word "peruse" within your first sentence. Just thought you would like to know.
Mmm..pancakes.
wow. Kinda cool.
cool eh?
Im going to try this
I have tried this, and it is truly a revolution in breakfast preparation. My son loves pancakes and this is so easy. The pancakes are good too. I predict this product is going to sweep the nation.
I've seen it in the local Meijer store.
when I came home from college for a break my mom had bought this stuff for me cuz she knos how much i love making pancakes... i put chocolate chunks and pieces of bananas and it was really good!!
I bought this product at COSCO and absolutely loved it. I bought three more cans (they came in a set of three) and ate those too. When I went back to get my next set of three cans the store has stopped stocking them. Now I am hooked on the product and do not know where I can buy it. Does anyone know????
I have seen them for sale at Stop and Shop and Kings. I tried it and thought it had a peculiar, off-taste. Not for me, despite being a busy mom with twin pancake-loving one year olds.
I believe I just got my last can at Albertson's.
I did try it, and I was not nearly as impressed with you. Despite paying nearly $5 for a can, I threw it out after one use. My kids wouldn't even eat them, and they are no picky, especially with pan cakes!! I'd rather eat the frozen toaster kind of pancakes than this crap in a can!
I first saw batter blaster at the naperville ribfest (AMAZING!)while my family and I were walking in, who doesn't like pancake's at a ribfest, anyway the sample were amazing and had to get it! went to meijer and found it!
These are wonderful!!! I'm on my third can with two more in the fridge. I think these are pretty close to IHOP pancakes and that is saying a lot for me! You really need to cook pancakes slow and let your pan heat up on a "lower than you think you need" setting for at least 3-5 minutes before you start. I burned my first round but after that we've been making them perfect.
To get them a little fluffy, add your first bit of batter to the pan. When they are the size you want, stop and then wait a few seconds, add another little squirt (this bit won't spread out) and they'll cook up thicker! Mmmm! I squirt a bit of "fake" butter on them and use the lite Hungry Jack syrup that you microwave.
My only gripe is that they don't make as many as claimed on the can, but I think I make mine thicker (especially with the little trick above.) I'm getting about 18 per can. It's okay with me, I just buy a bunch when they are on sale as they last quite a while in the fridge.
