On last night's episode of Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay saved a failing family business from financial and emotional ruin. He made over the Irish Pub, Finn McCool's, where the food was so horrible it made him puke! The chef's arrogant attitude and lack of passion severely affected the success of the restaurant and the morale of his family.
The owner knew that his chef was the reason for their failure, but he refused to fire him because the chef was his own son. His actions got me thinking about the relationships I have with my loved ones. Would I be capable of firing my own family member if it meant financial success and emotional stability? Would you?

wait, so, he didn't fire him? or did he in the end?
1I watched this during GG commercials.
2I wouldn't have hired him as a chef in the first place. The chef is the heart and soul of a restaurant. Why would you have someone who has no passion be the chef - even if he was your son? Just shut down the restaurant.
3That is why you don't mix family with business.
4It would depend, in a case like above hell yeah I would because that person family or not is messing with your livelihood (assuming the business is your only source of income) and your name. If the situation wasn't that critical than I might try to make them turn around.
5I don't know...I guess it would have to depend on the situation and how much I liked them
6If the food was terrible you would have to. He could just give him another position in the restaurant.
7So I looked at this site, and I'm wondering if it is related to the Finn McCool's pub in Santa Monica, CA. Same writing on the outside... but it doesn't say whether or not they are the same company.
8It'd depend on which family member it was.
9I've been fired by family members, and I've fired family members before. It sucks, but sometimes it just has to be done. Its HOW you fire them that matters, not that you're doing it in the first place.
10I was also wondering about which Finn McCool's this was. There's also one in Port Washington, NY.
Sometimes people have to be fired, family or not. If they're not doing the job, adios.
11I actually fired my brother in law because he was a lazy git
12Mm, amen-family an dbusiness on't mix.
13Knowing how I am ,I'd feel really bad, but yes I would only if i absolutely had to ...
14My mom would rule the kitchen.
15maybe...
