Try to get all of your Thanksgiving grocery shopping done before next Wednesday. Heading to the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving is like getting on the freeway in the middle of rush-hour traffic — not a good idea. Shoppers are inevitably grumpy, store clerks are stressed, shelves are empty, shopping carts are nowhere to be found, and the checkout lines are gigantic.
If you've made your lists you should be able to shop for nonperishables like vegetables, canned goods, alcohol, and dried foods today or tomorrow. Shop for last-minute items like fresh herbs and flowers on Tuesday afternoon. Pick up bags of ice the night before from your local convenience store and store in coolers outside in the garage or your back patio.
Most stores and bakeries are open on Thanksgiving morning, so make a quick pit stop to pick up bread and any forgotten ingredients as early as possible. Treat yourself to a coffee while you're at it, it's going to be a long day!

As much as I agree with this - I am BROKE and don't get paid until Wednesday. BOO. Has to be done then.
1Oh, Wednesday will be insantiy at every store. It can be kind of fun if you're in the right mood; it gets you in the spirit of the holiday. But it can also destroy your faith in mankind, since everyone is rude and pushy. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
2Yes it's very important NOT to shop the day before thanksgiving. I used to work for a supermarket and this was the worst day of the year. I always dreaded this day every year while I worked there. It's not worth it. I've never seen so many mean customers come to me at once. And then they wonder why we're all so stressed.
So please don't shop on this day. Not a good idea.
3Plus, when it was time for me to finally go home, mean customers would try to sneak in my line even though I shut my light off (meaning the register was closed). Then they would get upset, because they had to wait in the other long lines.
4That coffe is a great idea.
5Gods, this will be a fun shopping week. First comes Wednesday, and then there's Black Friday!
6I was at Costco today and it was already a madhouse! Thursday morning isn't too bad. It's pretty dead. The only people in there are mostly the ones who forgot "one more thing."
7Aaahh! Don't shop Wednesday! And for that matter, don't shop Friday either. Especially if detest crowds and waiting in line.
8Such a bad idea!
9Shopped Wednesday night last year. At the only Safeway in a lil country town. I think the whole town was there that night. Luckily Safeway had everything in stock, but the lines were horrendous.
10Things are freshest though on Wednesday
11I picked up everything I'll need, today.
12that must feel great.
13For the last three years I avoided the mayhem, but now I'm kinda ready. Hundreds of people, crowded banks, screaming kids and frantic parents. Ooooooh, can't wait ! Plus I won't be driving so . . .
