I can't choose, because I've never eaten at any of these restaurants. But correct me if Im worng, Bayless was in charge of The Mansion on Turtle Creek right? I heard he was too consumed with trying to brand himself to pay enough attention to the menu and food.
i have no clue who's who! all i know is the french laundry and el bulli, i've never eaten there but i've heard they are to die for
I've never had the pleasure of dining at any of these restaurants.
I don't know who any of them are, so I can't pick!
But I'd gladly try any of their dishes
Tom Douglas of Seattle's Lola, Etta's, etc --he also appeared on an Iron Chef. His food is excellent despite the fact he is super-famous, which is not the case with some other celeb chefs..
I always find La Bernadin to be overpriced and not good. I can recommend at least 30 better places withing 15 blocks!
I voted for Traci because I saw her on Top Chef and she's from SF. I only recognized 2 other people.
I voted for El Bulli but my truly fav restaurant chef is Joel Robuchon. His restaurants are beautiful and the food is fantastic!
where's jack?
I've never been to Momofuku, but everything I read about David Chang makes me really like him!
You missed some amazing places in DC on this list: Citronelle, Inn at Little Washington!
aaron sanchez - for sure! he should have won 'the next iron chef'
Okay... As a Dallas-ite, I have to ask why Dean Fearing is not an option on this list?
Folks, this was a difficult list to put together, we went from 30, down to 13. And our initial 30 didn't even include everyone we wanted it to. There are just so many talented people out there!
Elizabeth Falkner is spelled Elizabeth Falkner, not Faulkner, which is the correct spelling for the great, but difficult, writer William Faulkner, but not the "blurring the lines between sweet and savory" chef/pastry chef Elizabeth Falkner.
goodspeller - Thanks for bringing that to my attention, but that is really weird. I saw my typo before this poll went up and thought I corrected it. Sadly, I can't change it now or all of her well-deserved votes would disappear. Curse you weird internet glitches! Although really I should curse myself for getting it wrong the first time...
Oh yay, we were able to fix her name!
Wolfgang Puck should have been on that list. He has soooo many restaurants!
I love Alice Waters for all the work she does invovling children in growing/cooking local, fresh food.
Traci because my boy is the g.m of her jardiniere and with the new remodel it so rocks HARD!
oops! I meant to put her restaurant jardiniere but ya'll understand.
