Perhaps, if I didn't tell you what was in this soup, you would gladly gobble it up. It looks appetizing and fragrant and was one of the best dishes Chubby Hubby ate on a recent trip to Bhutan.
However, when you find out the main ingredient is fried hornets, you might be a little disgusted. The hornets are stir fried with garlic, ginger, and shallots.
I would take a bite, but it would be pretty hard to swallow knowing I was eating fried bugs. How about you? Would you eat this hornet soup?

No way.
I seriously haven't been able to stop cringing after reading that. Fried hornets??? First of all, I'd probably get all puffy cuz I'm allergic and then I'd need therapy. Sick!
No way!!!
i'd try it it would probably take me a few minutes to gather the balls to try it but i would eventually give it a go
Yea, I am the same as liciababe.
it would probably take some courage, but i would probably eat it. i can think of worse things to eat...
I would have probably tried it, but not now knowing whats in it.
Ummm no. Some things I will NOT eat! I am usually open to new food, but hornets??? No way.
No, I'm not really that adventurous in the food department.
UMMM I DUNNO.. I THINK I MIGHT TRY IT.. BUT I DONT THINK I WOULD EAT THE WHOLE THING.. JUST HAVE A BITE TO SAY THAT I DID IT!! HAHA
Nope!
I am usually very adventurous with food, but there are certain things I refuse to knowingly eat. That includes bugs, frogs, snakes. I have eaten alligator, ostrich, wild boar, goat, rabbit, and other strange stuff. Just can't do the bug thing.
Literally gagged when I read this. If it was the only thing left in the world to eat---I guess I would starve to death.
I didn't think it looked good Before I knew what was in it! So I'll pass on this one!
Only if my survival depended on it. It looks so nasty.
I'll try just about anything once. I'd eat it!!
it looked awful before i read what it was. knowing that it's hornets i absolutely say no because i almost swallowed one once and the result was disatrous
NO WAY!!!
I'm an adventurous eater, but only to a certain point...I draw the line at insects!
I've actually heard that some fried or sweetened insects (especially chocolate-covered ants) are quite delicious. Not that I've ever tried them...just hearsay.
Not a chance....gag!
Mmm...A big pass on that one. Ick!
thank goodness i'm a vegetarian so i don't have to answer that! i don't think that i'd eat it anyway
Not even if I was dying on a desert island somewhere.!!!!!
Definitely not.
Not only because it's gross, but insects carry diseases and I don't see why I would risk it.
I've had stir fried grasshoppers in Mexico before. It's not something I loved, but, honestly, it wasn't so bad. They just tasted oily and crispy; if no one had told me what they were, I would have never guessed. Not much flavor in a bug.
I'm sorry, but until it's a choice between eat bugs and death, I think I'll pass on the bugs!
I think I could eat some other types of bugs (grasshoppers or worms), but for some reason "hornets" just really makes me gag.
My friend ate fried locusts. He said they were crunchy. ewwwwwww!
I wouldn't eat that soup under any circumstances. Nasty!
Hornets or not, that soup does NOT look good. Maybe if the hornets were coated in dark chocolate instead of vomit soup, then I would eat them. All of them!
People eat bugs all the time in Asia and Africa - they're great sources of protein. I think if all the legs and antennae were pulled off I would totally eat it.
Just think about how a shrimp looks in the wild (kinda like a fat centipede) and how delicious they are when they're cleaned up!
I saw that it had little legs in it before I even read what it was. I have a hard time with peel and eat shrimp, don't think I could muster up the courage on this one.
A.) It doesn't even look like soup!
B.) It doesn't look appetizing even before i knew what was in it.
That being said, no way!
Never...
I would like to say "yes". I think if it was just bugs soup (grasshoppers, ants, etc), I could do it. But hornets?!?! That is simply too frightening. I would only try it if I saw someone else eat it safely first.
That depends. Is there a sauce involved? Either an au jou or just plain old beer?
Uuugh that's disgusting! No way!! And nothing about this picture looks appetizing either...
I hate bugs and would never eat any! As well, I'm not keen on much seafood, but one I refuse to eat is shrimp because they are sea bugs!!!
thinking about that makes me a bit nauseous
That soup looks very interesting but I don't think I would eat it.
I think I'd try it once. I'm pretty adventurous with food, I've eaten a lot of weird stuff (fried bugs from Thailand, fried frogs, etc.) but I must say, that soup doesn't look appetizing at all. :/
I saw some pretty strange (to me) foods in Vietnam, but being a vegetarian I didn't partake. I have no objection though, I'm sure they think Twinkies are cringeworthy. It's all about perspective
That "soup" looks like something one of my cats threw up
Heck no. I didn't even think it was a soup!
I'm not into adventurous food eating. So, no, I wouldn't try it even if I ate meat/bugs/whatever. Also, as a vegetarian, I don't eat anything unless I know what's in it first.
I probably would.. just for the experience. I think hornets would be OK because they're crunchy. I just couldn't do anything too squishy. Ew.
A Million thoughts running through my head non of which is mmm that looks yummy. Yick on my deathbed perhaps or for a large sum of money.
hell to the no
-THROWS UP-
no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would eat it. Insects are an amazing and abundant source of proteins and nutrients, Cultures all over the world regularly eat stuff like this, its an everyday occurence. Live a little. I am sure they would find our "enriched bleached out, salt laden" crap we eat to be just as unappetizing
