1Cute ideas...I know a lot of people who'd like that beer-making kit! My father got one for Christmas a few years ago and it was kind of cool.
2I went out to the Indian Wells Brewing Co. last weekend and got my dad some beer. It's a tiny place out in the middle of nowhere, the only thing in the town is the brewery and a truck stop/steak house. He'll love it. I even got a sampler pack for his best friend.
3I got the Mr. Beer kit for my boyfriend a couple of years back and it wasn't very good. If you are willing to spend a little more and are in the LA area, check out Culver City Home Brewing. They sell better quality brewing kits.
4hollytooie - bummer about the mr. beer, a friend of mine loves his, but I think they're definitely for someone who's getting into it and isn't sure that they're going to become ultimate brewmasters just yet.
