I recently went to China, and while in Beijing I stopped at the infamous street food market. I wasn't sure what to snack on, but since I'll try anything once, and had a slight obsession with Survivorman, I eventually settled for a deep fried scorpion. It was warm and crunchy, with a little tender meaty morsel in the center. And, most surprisingly, it wasn't that bad. In fact, I'd eat it again. How about you, would you ever eat a scorpion?

I've been to that street in Beijing, too. No way did I eat anything there. My excuse: I'm a vegetarian(being veg got me out of a lot of uncomfortable situations in China). But give me an exotic vegetable and I'll show you my adventurous side.
1Maybe if it was a bit more unrecognizable, I'd eat it. It would be cool to say you tried it, though. Reminds me of the "Long Way Round" series with Ewan McGregor and his best friend Charley--they ate testicle soup while in Mongolia and just the way they were describing it made me laugh hysterically. At least you'd get a good story out of it
2Nope I wouldn't

3Some things I just REFUSE to eat...like a rabbit head in Italy
Maybe (just maybe) if I got a million bucks outta it I would.
I'm such a baby when it comes to trying strange things. I probably would never try it. I'd be too scared.
4Absolutely not!
5In a competitive "Anything you can do, I can do better" way I would totally have to eat it. If YumSugar ate it so can I!
6I live in Arizona, I've seen enough of 'em! I would never want to see one on my dinner plate!
7Eatting bugs is just one of the things I won't do. Ever.
8I don't even think I would do that if I was drunk!
9haha i say no way!... but maybe if i was put into the sistuation i might do it! i mean its not going to kill you .. its just going to taste really bad.. or maybe it will taste good! haha
10I'm going with no on this one.
11Go Yum! Put me on Survivorman or Fear Factor and yes I would eat Scorpians. Other than that, no way!
12I have eaten them, they are kind of nutty tasting. I will try any food once.
Why wouldnt a vegetarian eat a bug? its not meat.
13I am with you Party! The competitive half of me would override the squeamish side of me. So, under coercion - Yes! I would eat a scorpion and then I would "rock you like a hurricane" baby!
14I was going to say yes, because I'm fairly adventurous. Then I saw the photo, and I have to say only if coerced.
15grosss! never
16I wouldn't eat anything that could sting me, such as wasps & scorpions! Non-stinging insects, maybe.
17Okay, I'm a big wuss as I took one look at that pic and I suddenly felt sick. Could not do it unless there was a large sum of money involved, I mean a lot!
18no way. thank goodness that i'm a vegetarian so i don't have to worry about that - but still - anything that can kill you with a bitty sting when it's alive should not be eaten!
19No way. I've been stung by a scorpion - twice. I would NOT put it in my mouth.
20EEK!
21I thought scorpions were poisonous?
22Caterpillar girl: Yes, a bug would be considered meat. There would not be a lot of meat on a scorpion, but bugs are not part of a vegetarian diet. Just google "scorpion meat" if you are curious.
23I wouldn't do it. I'm horribly unadventurous when it comes to food. My best friend has a picture very similar to this one, only it's one scorpion and one potato bug on a stick.
Pass.
24Wait, do you eat the stinger too?
25When I went to Cambodia, these women had deep-fried tarantulas for sale and let's just say their furry little bodies did not make my mouth water. Scorpions, though? I love soft-shelled crab and other creepy-crawlies, why not? It's protein!
26Wouldn't even consider it...
27i'm veg, so no way. and yes, they count as meat. totally counts. totally.
282 words: HELL NO!
29Sure, I'll eat anything as long as:
301. someone else has eaten it and didn't die
2. someone else has eaten it and liked it
3. and, it's cooked.
I hear they are crunchy...
I would eat one, but not the stinger. Does that count?
31YES! totally! as long as the stingers are gone...
32Will someone elaborate on the poisonous factor? Do they take that part off? Are they seasoned, or is it just crunching up a cooked scorpion?
Not sure. If coerced properly, I could be made to. Sounds better than grasshoppers in Oaxaca.
33I'm with blairbear...I live in AZ too and see enough of these. It'd be kinda weird too since I'm a scorpio...bad karma if I ate one??
Both my sisters have been stung by scorpions so I know to STAY AWAY! I voted "probably not, but if coerced..." because I might do it for money. Curiosity and adventure are not enough to make me try them with no cash as an incentive!!
34Oh my goodness NO! Just the thought makes my skin crawl....ewwwwwwww.
35NO!!
36I'm a vegetarian.
37No animals are being eaten by this chick.
nope
38Sitting here safely at my desk, I can say that I would. But if it was right in front of me, I might wimp out.
39No way. I seen a scorpion for the 1st time this past summer, it was dead, and that was all the closeness I need with them.
40I'd try it, no money involved as long as the person doing the cooking knows what they are doing. I'll try anything once..isn't life about the adventure?
41You're brave! I can't pass the fact that it's a.... Scorpion!! But when it comes to spicy food, I'm in! hooh Hot hooh Hot!
42No way, it's not for me - I am chicken
43When I had them they had been deep fried whole, with the stingers still on. I don't know if they were treated in any special way, but I assumed the stingers had lost their sting. The problem with the stinger is that it was the hardest part to crunch through. Otherwise I recall that the rest of the body was crunchy like a potato chip and slightly fishy.
44i tried it, its not bad it kinda tastes like crunchy popcorns. yummyyyy
45= p
