I've found us the perfect item for a special holiday edition of Would You Eat This. You may have heard of duck or goose paté, but how about reindeer paté? It's a paté made from cuts of Swedish Artic Reindeer meat, cognac and spices. It's supposed to go great on buttered toast with a glass of brandy. It makes me sad to think I'd be munching down on Dancer, Prancer or one of Santa's other reindeer, however it probably wouldn't stop me from trying it. How about you guys, would you give it a try?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Ew! I hate pate to start with!!!
Sure, I would try it - I love goose and duck liver pate - how different can this be - it sounds especially good with the brandy!!!!! I do not understand this whole animal hierarchy - for those of us that are not vegetarians, it basically boils down to the fact that we eat animals - all kinds - cute and ugly a like. Also, just b/c something is not typically consumed in this country does not mean that its bad or distasteful (no pun intended). But, that is the great thing about living here - there are all sorts of people with all kinds of tastes and we can all disagree or agree till our hearts content
I love pate, so I would totally try it!
I'd try it, too.
Someone has to think of a better name than just calling it "reindeer pate". lol. I won't be able to explain it to the kids who might be around when I eat this.
I'm all set with any type of pate...
I don't eat Rudolph, daffy, or bugs. It's a rule.
Ick. I dont do the weird meats- not even lamb.

i'm veg. thankfully.
Mama, even Rudolph is fair game.
LOL
What will people think of killing for consumption next? It's bad enough to walk through a shopping mall and they have a reindeer penned up in a 10 by 10 ft cage, for the entertainment of people.
No thank you. I limit myself to chicken, fish and sometimes pork. That's it.
i think that my life will be just fine w/o eating that
I'll try anything once. I've never had pate before though.
Is that real? Definitely not, I'd gag.
I ate Reindeer Sausage during my trip to Alaska this year, I don't think this would be too much different!
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeeeeeerrrrr had a very shiny nose...then i canned him, and ate him.
couldn't do it! well, maybe if it was blitzen...
I says relative of Rudolph! I don't think would be a good marketing ploy! I think from a selling perspective you don't want your consumers thinking about how cuddly their meat used to be! It would be like writing on packages of ground beef "Remember how cute they were when they just calf's!"
This seems creepy to me. But truthfully, I can't say I would eat deer pate either. It's something about wild animals...who knows.
*gag*
thats sad.. i couldnt ever eat it!!!
I love that it says "Farm raised relative of Rudolph". I guess these little guys didn't work hard enough to keep pulling the sleigh. Gross.
I've had reindeer sausage and other reindeer meat, too. *Very* good. I don't know if the pate would be good, but I'd give it a shot.
Can't be that different from elk or venison. Does need a different name.
Pate is vomitous.
I agree that it needs a different name, but I would try it. I've had cow's tongue before, so it can't be that bad.
I bet reindeer is tasty, but pate is disgusting. I'm not so into organ meat.
I'm not a huge fan of Pate and the packaging is just ridiculous. "Farm Raised relative of Rudolph"? I can hear my niece sobbing already.
i love deer meat and i cant imagine it'd be much different meat than that. I'd try it atleast once, though if it were around Christmas time I might think twice. Dont want to make Santa mad!
Yuck!
I don't eat meat, but I know reindeer meat is a delicacy (here in Sweden) . So if I ate meat I'd definatly eat the meat but maybe not as pate.
Reindeer is really. I've tried it last summer in Finland (on a pizza, hehe ). I would try the pate, no problem, but that is probably as far as I'd go. Some people in Finland eat the heart (dried). Disgusting.
Nope, I'm vegetarian. But even if I weren't, I don't think I could find it in my heart to eat one of Rudolph's cousins. Never got the hang of flying, now he's in a little can. *sniffle*
Nope! I don't eat meat and this kind of makes me sad...haha poor reindeer!!
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
LOL @ LOVAAJN
Yes, and I have. We had Rudolph pizza just the other night too.
Brookrene:
"don't want to make Santa mad!"
No, I just don't like any kind of pate
Sure! I'd give it a try. At first I was thinking "No Way" because it's reindeer. Then I thought, well, I've eaten deer so what's the difference. So, yes! I'll try it.
Hell yes! YUM YUM YUM sounds great!
Meat is meat, it is all disgusting. Death and murder
I've never had any kind of pate so I guess reindeer pate won't really be making it that high on my grocery list any time soon.
Pate grosses me out, even the vegetarian stuff. So this goes double.
I grew up eating reindeer, and it's delicious. I'm not the biggest paté fan, but I'd still eat it at a party or something.
Just because here in America we associate the reindeer with Rudolph, and Christmas doesn’t mean that elsewhere in this world its not considered sustenance.
My family is from Norway, my grandparents , aunts, uncles, cousins all still live there and they eat reindeer regularly. It’s a cultural, sociological and natural importance to the Scandinavian people to be able to hunt and eat the reindeer.
Open your minds people, we aren’t the only continent on the planet. Try new things, experiance other cultures, live beyond your boundries!
My husband is Swedish and loves reindeer, I'm not sure he's had pate, tho as much as he was oogling at some weird liver pate stuff at a little Nordic shop in Oakland I'm sure he'd go for it.
Gag! I would not even think about tasting it.
No way!!!!!
I would never eat ANY pate. It looks like cat food.
I'm a vegetarian though...so I wouldn't eat any animal to begin with.
