i love anthony bourdain but he comes across a bit snooty in his blog. the most interesting tid-bit though is that "emeril live" will be cancelled. how is this possible? emeril was foodtv's darling and a huge part of their success today. of course, i don't know the whole story but on the surface it doesn't make me a happy viewer.
niny - they've said that although emeril live is cancelled he is not finished with the network and may have something else in the works. also enough episodes have been filmed to last through the 2008 season.
here's more about what's going on at Food Network.
I so dig Tony (the acerbic wit rocks!). And I did watch the ACT marathon in prep for his new season on TC. I love his brutal honesty. I think that's why people either love him or hate him. But he isn't about teaching you to cook, he's about teaching you to try new things and to appreciate life. Even the disgusting fatty, overly liqueured side. I love that he too cannot stand RR or Sandra Lee - and it not just for their skills in the kitchen its their desire to dominate everything and the need to peppy and devious about it.
He told this story in December when he spoke in New York. However it still cracks me up, both Paula Deen and Rachel Ray's eyes truly seem dead inside.
The article is awfully long and Anthony does come across as rather snooty, but it's interesting to get his take on what's going on. He knows the people from the Food Network and how they think and he is probably giving the most accurate depiction of what is happening.
I love Anthony, he's so funny, and I like how he dishes it out in equal parts, including to himself, I love it when he gets self-deprecating, he does it in a way that isn't fishing for praise. I'll see if I can catch any of his Food Network stuff because I don't think I get the Travel Channel and I've been missing my Bourdain fix.
wow - he's full of himself isn't he? i've always thought that he was pretentious but to say that the network has nothing newer or fresh to air - come on? there are always new shows that can be done
I would love to see the old series, but I don't have cable & don't plan on getting it. Is this on DVD?
...rolling....on office floor.....laughing....at....POOCHIE!!....oh i am so calling Guy Fieri this from now on...its perfect!
Well he loves himself doesn't he? I'm not interested in this anyway...Food Network is less and less appealing to me...
I love Anthony's devil-may-care attitude. Seeing him get sh*tty every single episode is definitely something to turn the TV on for. Can't wait to catch some old episodes.
He is a breath of fresh air!You get the sense that what you see is exactly what you would get in person.I think he is hilarious and never ever dull to watch! Can you say the same about the queen of evoo!
