In their recent January issue, Food & Wine magazine released their annual 100 Tastes to Try. This year the tastes have been broken down into 15 categories ranging from food trips to new ingredients. I took a look through the list and here are some of the ones that are topping my personal list of tastes to try in 2008. I don't know how feasible some of them are, but I know I can cross a few of these off my list.
- A meal at Elizabeth Falkner's new restaurant Orson
- Rare, edible plants like Sechuan button-flower bud
- Honeydew-scented sake
- Chocolate bars with popcorn
- Saffron-flavored popsicles from Koolfreeze
- Tom Douglas's Culinary Summer Camp
- More Sweetbreads — this one's easy, I already love that stuff!
- A refreshing Amberjack
- Faux Gras. I like the real deal, but am really curious about this one.
- Barrel-aged American beers
- Hungarian table wine
- Exploring Instanbul's bazaars and Anatolia's clay-pot cooking with Nancy Harmon Jenkins
- Something off the Treats Truck in New York
For the rest of my picks, read more.
How about you? Why don't you look through the full list and tell me which ones you are hoping to try!

I'm wondering about the popcorn chocolate bar! On one hand it seems that the popcorn would be all mushy, but????
1Hungarian table wine sounds intriguing!
2I also curious about the popcorn chocolate bar. Also the Saffron flavored ice cream bars are almost 50$ for 24! wow.
3Well I'll pass on the faux gras that's for sure! **shivers**
4chocolate bars and popcorn! i love mixing the two! i do that all the time at the movies. the combo of salty and sweet is amazing!
5Hmmmm I'll go with the popsicles. The rest is meh to me.
6I made the maple glazed baked beans for a Christmas side dish (we were having ribs for Christmas dinner!) and they were absolutely delicious!
7You know I am not sure about Orson at all. I walk by there maybe every other day and the location is odd. Between Hotel Utah, the Glas Cat and a Goth Club, with tons of goth smokers lurking outside. I keep watching for progress on the place and I see little or none.
Has Elizabeth even said what her concept is other than she's continuing to name restaurants after the film Citizen Kane or Orson Welles? We have Citizen Cake and Citizen Cupcake now Orson, but what does it do? I fear the next place will be Rosebud.
8I honestly don't think I will be trying any of this - none sound all that good I don't think!
