What if I told you that you could have a hassle-free root beer float anytime you wanted? Well, thanks to the folks at A&W, you can! They recently announced a new line of drinks — A&W and Sunkist Floats ($1.79 each/$5.99 for four) — that promises to deliver a real float experience without all the fuss. Personally, I like the fuss associated with floats. Getting ice cream stuck in your straw is part of the fun! Yet, I can see where some people might like to indulge without the hassle. According to Andrew Springate, vice president of marketing at A&W, they have been trying to create this drink for quite some time. When asked about it, he said:
For years, beverage makers have tried to crack the code and develop an indulgent drink that tastes like a homemade float. The A&W and Sunkist Floats are indulgent treats like nothing consumers have experienced before; one pour and your taste buds will be amazed — no work, no hassle.
I haven't seen them at any of my local stores, but they should be hitting the market shortly. When they do, will you be picking one up?

1No thanks...
2Yuuuuuuum! I love A&W floats!
3Hey hey guess what?
A&W is my initals!
Sounds awesome!! I recently tried a French Vanilla Italian Cream Soda, at my local coffee shop, and it tasted just like a float. Like liquid ice cream, delish!
4that's kind of cool. my brothers always used to love those and to be honest - w/o the 'float' i don't think that i care for cream soda or root beer
5I would definitely try this at least once!
6I would try it.. but I like the experience of the real float too!! The ice cream stuck in the straw, your hands getting sticky, how it's served in that ice cold glass....
7Most definitely! We love to make root beer floats at our house. :yum:
8A&W are my initials, too!
9I would definitely try these if they ever made it to Canada. They certainly sound interesting.
Yes, please!
10Ok there isn't really a hassle in making a Root Beer Float - It's easy - Plus if you are really lazy you can get one in the drive thru at your local A&W
11I LOVE root beer floats and I like the fuss of making them too! I'd rather just make my own...
12A&W rocks, I would so love to try this.
13this should be interesting!
14I would definitely try this. I make my floats with melted ice cream, anyway.
15no. why ruin the original?
16I'll def try this out. I do LOVE actual root beer floats...and when I DO happen to "go through the fuss" I go all out including whipped cream and cherries. THen I drink the left over root beer with the cherry juice. SO YUMMY.
17i like root beer floats because of the contrast of the root beer and ice cream (one smooth liquid and the other freezing cold/hard)
18I'm going to start looking for those today! I don't think they'll really be like floats... but I have to try it!
19OOOOOOOO that sounds really great!
20mmmm...I'll try it!!
21Just tried it, they are gross! It tastes like a melted root beer float thats been left out in the sun, chilled and had caramel added. not impressed.
22I have to agree with nicademus. I love A&W. I was at the store today, and I saw this and I thought, "life has become that much easier, and sunnier, and happier." I bought four bottles and hurried to my car to try one. I read the label and was even more excited to see no "High fructose corn syrup".
But when I opened this thing, I cannot begin to explain the horror. this tasted like there was A&W somewhere in there, but it was hard to find with all the other flavors of gross flowing down my throat. I almost spit it out it was so disgusting.
I read the label, and I saw skim milk...so I thought maybe just one of the ingredients was bad or something, because nothing could be purposely marketed that tasted so gross and off from the original, near perfect A&W. So opened the second one, and it's the same story.
I soooo wanted to like this. But avoid it at all costs. Or try it just once to understand what I'm sayng.
23I tried the float and i think that A&W should take it off the shelves as quick as possible and they should also find out who in the company tasted it and put on the shelf to begin with and replace him with someone that has taste buds
this product is not at all what A&W was built on

24We live in Charleston, WV and would like to know where we can buy the new A&W Root Beer Float drink. We can't find them any where around here. Thanks.
25I too saw this in the store and thought, "Awesome, instant gratification!"
26To my great dismay, this product had to be the most horrid thing to have ever cross my lips. It bulldozed it's way down my throat with a sickeningly sweet, almost putrid taste. I couldn't rinse my mouth out fast enough.
We tried it. Didn't finish even half of it. Tastes like playdough smells.
Did they not test market this first? Yuck.
