There's something about a big night of end-of-the-year partying that goes hand in hand with over-drinking and hangovers. The worst thing about a hangover is that there is no specific cure or little pill that can instantly make it go away (why hasn't anyone ever invented one??!). The way in which one deals with a hangover is a highly personalized matter and more times than not, it involves food. I got to thinking, and wondered what types of food people turn to when suffering from a severe head-splitting stomach-hurling hangover.

I took an informal poll at the office to see what people eat and got a variety of solutions, with the most popular being some sort of egg sandwich (bacon, eggs, cheese on toast, a roll, or an English muffin). The runner up was a burger and fries. It was interesting to hear each person's cure - they included a bagel and cream cheese, coffee, Diet Coke, chips and beans, tuna melts, and blts. Basically what it boiled down to was two food groups: grease and sugar. The other popular remedies revolve around salt, liquids, carbs, fat, protein and more alcohol. I personally choose toast with butter.
So how about you? What do you eat when you are hungover?

chinese food is the best for a hang over
1speaking of a hangover... i hope i can type this legibly
the 1st 5 work for me. my hubby is at Sonic picking us up something to eat as we speak.
my order: extra long cheese coney w/ onions, cheese fries, and a Route 44 vanilla 1/2 coke 1/2 diet coke
2Chicken noodle soup....
3I love spaghetti too! It's weird, but pasta with a big glass of ice water always helps.
4Waffle House. The cheapest, greasiest food in the world. It's soooo bad for me, but it cures my hangover like nothing else. Just about anything from there, but always hashbrowns no matter what. That's exactly where i went when I awoke at noon today with my hangover from last night haha

5A very large Subway sandwich normally with lots of cheese and mayonnaise.
6Bacon, egg and cheese biscuit from McDonald's - with two hashbrowns. And a TON of water.
7Lots of water.. to wash out the alcohol in my system. Then it's hot steaming chinese food. Like a hearty soup or some rice.
8Lots of water and pancakes work great.
Style Before Comfort!
9Cup of Noodles! It's easy to eat and make, and it makes my stomach feel better usually. A fast food burger is always good too. Yesterday I was craving a Chipotle burrito like you would not believe but there isn't one close enough to my house for me to go get it yesterday.
10Water and chocolate...every time.
11Chicken tacos, chips with salsa, and a large Coke with lots of ice. Never failed me. Now I'm a big baby and two beers will make me sick, so I just stick with the soda. It's funny what works for different people.
12A heaping plate of migas with extra jalepenos, chips, queso and refriend beans. Greasy and delicious.
13Ew. I think that if i smelled chinese food while hung over it would make me puke. I opt for the big breakfast. Ihop is always good, or wafflehouse.
I'm all in.
14I don't eat.. I drink Arizona GREEN Tea WITH GINSING!! It works every time. It boosts my energy and also re-hydrates me. The colder the better!
15cakes, chocolate bars, especially eating allll of those yummy deserts my mom makes for new years and christmas, the kitchen and the fridge is then FULL of it. I usually eat the cakes and sweets... Oh how I love christmas and new years...
16i dont drink alcohol..yes there is still an adult out there in this world who does not drink!
17Big Macs, no onions, extra sauce....mmmmmm
18lots of eggs and bacon from dennys or hash browns from mcdonalds
192 Egg McMuffins, 2 hashbrowns, coffee and A LOT of water. Ihop, and Waffle House are good, too.
20Bagel of any type with coffee, carnation instant breakfast, or some kind of juice...and then a longgggg nap.
21I swear by V8 juice. One before bed and one when I wake up !! Works everytime.
22chocolate milk, chocolate milk, chocolate milk
23I take more vitamins than usual and drink a lot of fruit juice. Water is also a necessity and the electrolytes in Gatorade and/or Powerade really help, too! Eating pickles or drinking the juice really works because of the minerals. As for actual food ~ Tater-tots and/or English muffins!
24I find that a beer with some soup....followed by a B vitamin and some rest is the key to the Hangover....if you have time, try a hot bath and some relaxing music, if you have to go to work, just keep positive and remember you can rest when you get home
25just drink another beer
always works!!!
26Just bacon.... I crave it after a night out!!!
27What works for me is anything with bread like a big mac from mc donalds and a large frozen coke always does the trick. I'm having them both right now and I feel better already
28I always start with a pint of chilled water then Vegemite on toast. Vegemite is the Australian alternative to Marmite and like Marmite you have to have an acquired to taste to have it. But seriously it works.
29water and salt. if you dont take any salt with the water most of the water is going to pass right through you. its pretty much like having diarrhea. for the most part alcohol pushes the water out of your system. if you ever notice when you drink you pee out more than you take in. for anyone that is really in to sports or exercising when you over exercise and dont drink enough water you get a bad headache and feel like sh*t. this is because you are dehydrated. this is the same thing that happens when you drink. there is no miracle cure. just keep up on ur liquids!!! goodnight
