Although we are only three weeks into '08, one of the upcoming trends — microgreens for the home cook — is everywhere. They're on Food and Wine's list of best new ingredients and The Nibble is featuring them as their pick of the week. Similar to baby greens but younger, microgreens are tender, delicate little lettuces. Many restaurant chefs use the greens in dishes or as garnish, but until now they weren't widely available to home cooks. As much as I love experimenting with new ingredients, I don't know if I want to make microgreen salads at home. How about you?

This would be fun to try, but I know my boyfriend's cat would eat it.

3Aww they look so cute! I would want to grow some in my house just for the aesthetics of it. I don't usually eat salad(although a Caesar salad and Ranch Dressing are always welcomed!), but it would be adorable to look at!
4i think its adorable and aesthetic, but id have to taste them before i pick a side. i do however LOVE all the "weird" lettuces (grammer? lol) so i have a feeling ill be a fan...

11MMM they look so crisy and fresh! I don't see anything wrong with eating them!
12erm.. i love green vegs like broccoli, spinach, morning glory, but i don't like the taste of these microgreens
13Cute! You'd have to grow a lot to make salads - unless they are bigger than they look. They look to be about the size as sprouts, and I loooove sprouts, so I'd probably use these the same was as sprouts. I love baby spinach, and it's what I always use for my salads.
