Jan 21 2008 - 9:13am When I found out that today is Hot and Spicy Day, I knew it was time to ask you what you thought of this dish. When I was in Shanghai, we stopped to have this delicious dish featuring fried chicken, two giant prawns and — as you can obviously tell — a massive load of red peppers. It was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten and I dream about eating it again.
Definitely, though I find fried things really unhealthy - I'd still dig in. If you like this, there's a really delicious Chinese dish (I don't think you can find it in the US, but let me know
if you can ... I've only had it in Vancouver Canada and Hong Kong) that is basically wontons in a really, really super hot and spicy sauce. Try it!!! It's called "hong you chao shou" and
here's a link to a recipe I found online: http://www.grouprecipes.com/31655/hot-and-spicy-wontons.html
Yum, how did the peppers taste? on a spicy scale from 1 to 10??? where they dry or soft?
I LOVEEE fried prawns, especially the kind where you can eat the skin along with the shrimp bc it's so perfectly fried
If it was just the peppers and chicken sure but the shellfish mean that I'd have to whip out the epi-pen so that I wouldn't die. No fun it that. I love spicy food even with no stomach acid
and a tiny stomach.
If you live in San Francisco, you can find this dish at Spices II on 6th and Clement in teh Richmond district- It is called Shrimp with Explosive Chili Pepper!
I've had a dish with flash fried snake beans and kan koong (water spinach, I think) in soya sauce which was absolutely smothered in these little fried chillis. We tried to eat around the
chillis, but every now and then you grab a bite of one. Nearly blew my head off. Still, it was one of my favourite meals and one I wake up craving every so often (-: The salty and spicy combo
with very fresh veg can't be beaten.

Would depend on exactly how spicy those peppers were. They do come in degrees of spiciness. But hey, I'm willing to try, at least. Even if that'd mean becoming very familiar with a bucket of
water afterwards.

It would probably be too spicy but I'd eat it anyway. I wouldn't eat any of the actual peppers though.

21Yummy! I love spicy food. Although the prawns look a bit different than what I normally buy at the store, they look good!
22I like spicy food, but this just has too many peppers. And I hate fried food.
Maybe if the chicken wasn't fried and the peppers were toned down a bit, I'd try it.

28That dish looks amazing. I'm the kind of person who eats the peppers out of Chinese food, so this dish is right up my alley!
