This weekend I was perusing the Valentine's Day section of my local Target when I noticed a bag of charcoal chocolate marshmallows. At first I only noticed the NEW! banner across the top — I'm a marketer's dream — and then I noticed that it was sitting on top of a bag of strawberry-flavored marshmallows. Those were not marked new and it got me wondering what other flavors there were. According to the Kraft website, there is also a Toasted Coconut flavor. I'm slightly surprised that toasted coconut appeared before chocolate, but then again I'm not a marshmallow expert.
These festive snacks looked like a lot of fun; I'm not even a fan of marshmallows and had the urge to buy one. I bet they would be nice in hot cocoa, and could possibly add another element to s'mores. So what do you think? Has anyone out there tasted these? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Aftershock
i thought the multi-colored ones always had a bit of a strawberry flavor to them.
i am all about less calories and more chocolate flavor. i am so on top of this chocolate marshmallow thing. off to target i go.
1Hehehe that is sweet! (pun intended)
2YUMMERS!! and you can make super yummy Rice Crispie Treats!
3i love the toasted coconut flavor! they are actually covered with coconut, so they have more texture than an average marshmallow. yum
4Blech, marshmallows.
5Eh if and when I like the regular ones thanks.
6I've had the chocolate ones and they were great! They have a strong cocoa flavor. A great healthier dessert.
7AlilCherri - great idea about the rice krispie treats! I hadn't even thought of that!
8Interesting! I love Target!
9I have had the strawberry ones and they were good. I think I sipped some in chocolate then I cut up the rest to make flowers for the tops of cupcakes.
10I've seen the toasted coconut ones before and wondered what they were for!
And I definitely remember the multicolored ones from when I was a kid! For some reason they remind me of my church. I think we had them in the nursery & at VBS!
11Yummy! I'd love to try the strawberry ones.
12yuck... maybe when I was 12.
13I know I've had the toasted coconut marshmallows in a different brand around Passover time. It's a treat my family always gets them and they are a delicious treat. I'm excited that a big brand is making them so I can find them more easily.
14Toasted Coconut is SO good!
15Chocolate is new? When I was a kid in the 80's we used to toast chocolate ones all the time. Maybe it was a Canadian thing, and not available in the US? I never have seen them here in the US, now I'm excited.
16i think i might be a bit excited about this one. there was a period of time last year when all i ate were marshmellows - yes i know that they have a lot of cals - but they were good.
i would roast them over the candles in my boyfriend's room since that was the closest to fire that i could get - but it was good.
now i can do it with flavors - YAY!
17i must have the chocolate ones NOW!!!
18I bet the chocolate ones would be awesome in Rice Krispie treats.
19they are good all by themselves. I would say one or two are plenty as the flavor does get to strong but i give all 3 thumbs up.
20The chocolate ones aren't that great. They are just white marshmallows with cocoa on the outside. The chocolate isn't sweet enough either and they are kinda dry in your mouth. I bet strawberry ones are good though.
21Oh my gosh yummy! I would so do the strawberry with hershey's chocolate bars and cinnamon graham crackers!
Chocolate marshmallows though just sound ew. I don't like fake chocolate taste!
22I've always wanted to know: what are smores?
23where i live they have been selling the coconut one for years.
24diff brand though
The coconut ones are soooo addicting. I wish they would make them year round, omg.
25Nothing new. Flavored marshmallows were quite popular when I was a kid in the early 1960's. There was one variety from Kraft which had the little wonders in several pastel colors, and they were flavored with strawberry, lemon, orange, and lime. There were chocolate ones in with the fruity ones as well, but I don't remember being able to buy a bag of just the chocolate variety. Another product which was heavily marketed for Valentine's Day was a bag of "regular" and strawberry marshmallows mixed about 50/50. Marshmallows were also available covered with toasted coconut, not just flavored.
It would be nice to see these return.
