Alfalfa Spouts: Love Them or Hate Them?

When I went to UC Berkeley there was a cafe on Telegraph Avenue, Intermezzo, that I (well, everyone) would frequent. Known for its vegetarian cuisine, Intermezzo made excellent soups, salads, and sandwiches. I loved everything about this place, except for one small thing: the sandwiches came with sprouts! While Yum loves them, alfalfa sprouts are an ingredient that I would like to forget. I find them tasteless, stringy, and hate how they always get stuck in your teeth. How about you?

I like them, but I also don't eat them because they harbor Salmonella. I like bean sprouts too and those are better because they don't have Salmonella on/in them.

To me they've always seemed like a waste of space, with their taste resembling the wet cotton that you'd sprout them on.Never tried them in a stir-fry, but now I'm looking forward to it.

I love the crunch! Bean sprouts are fabulous when they're fried up. Deeeelightful.

I love them, but won't eat them because of the risk of salmonella. Even growing your own doesn't make them safer, so I don't think I'll be having them anytime soon.

LOVE THEM. I love how they're nutty, crunchy, crispy, and not too sweet. Hmm.

Love 'em. I put 'em in stir fry, never tried to put 'em in a sandwich.

I'm on the fence. There's a place near my house that puts them on all of the sandwiches, and I think my problem is they just put way too much. I end up pulling some of it off, then the sandwich tastes better, and I'm not overwhelmed with sprout texture.Love to put bean sprouts in my wraps, though. Those have a nice crunch.
