Mm I like Trader's Joe's O's but I prefer their 100% Organic High Fiber O's ... so yummy!!

On the article for gourmet on a budget. It's totally possible so long as 80% of you food items are healthy "standard" pantry fare (think whole wheat pastas, canned veggies, frozen fruits, fresh produce when possible and less-costly cuts of meat) and a few ingredients are special high-priced things (like truffle butter or really good olive oils) that can add a flair to any dish. It also helps to know how to cook less-costly cuts of meat that aren't normally bought because they are "tough". Example meal: Roasted beef (whatever cut you like and requires slower cooking time) braised in truffle butter (which gives it an instently expensive flavor) with roasted root veggies or sauted frozen veggies and for dessert frozen berries poached in a little sangria wine (which you can buy super cheap and already is a little lighter and fruiter than normal red wine). Win!

I was really excited to read that Chicago Tribune article, but it was really vague and unhelpful--it literally pretty much just said "buy inexpensive staples at the supermarket." Is the whole article not online or something?

Wasn't "Yes, Pecan" a Slate.com entry? I know they were themselves, ahem, *scooped* by members of the Obama team themselves back in March, but the idea was first brought to national attention by Slate last year.
