Once you've learned how to make homemade mayonnaise, it's fun to get creative and make different mayonnaise flavors. My favorite, shown here, is basil-garlic mayo. It's a creamy, tangy, and fragrant spread that's delicious slathered on sandwiches or served as a dip alongside grilled vegetables like artichokes and zucchini. It's easy to put together: simply whisk the mayo with the herbs and seasonings of your choice. The addition of citrus goes a long way, as do other condiments like hot sauce or horseradish. Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 chopped fresh herbs (basil, parsley, cilantro, thyme, etc.)
1 tablespoon liquid seasoning (fresh citrus, hot sauce, horseradish, dijon, ketchup, pesto, etc. ),
1 teaspoon dry seasoning (minced garlic, shallots, curry powder, chipotle powder, old bay, etc.)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Whisk the mayonnaise and remaining ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and black pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Makes about 1/14 cup flavored mayo.
