Taste Test: 20 Chobani Yogurt Flavors!

Aug 15 2013 - 4:25am

Its no secret, Greek yogurt has taken the dairy aisle by storm — Chobani's new flavors are proof! With flavors like passion fruit, chocolate mint, and coconut, we ripped off the foil lids and dove into the creamy goodness. Usually, fruit-flavored yogurts are syrupy and inauthentic-tasting, but Chobani exceeded our expectations. The fruit on the bottom, for the most part, is whole and chunky and balances with the tart, thick Greek yogurt. For an on-the-go breakfast or an alternative to dessert, Chobani yogurts won't dissatisfy. Take a look at the tasting notes and ratings for all 20 flavors, and let us know which Chobani flavor is your favorite!

Honey With Ginger

What our tasters thought: For those seeking to spice up honey Greek yogurt, give this well-balanced, honey-ginger flavor a try. The flavor is different enough to make it a great dessert substitute.

Peachy Pistachio

What our tasters thought: While the pistachio crunch and chocolate pieces are satisfying, the yogurt itself was voted too sweet by several tasters. Also, many didn't think peach and chocolate went well together.

Orange Vanilla

What our tasters thought: While the creamy orange and vanilla flavor is a bit unexpected, it reminded us of Creamsicles. The mild flavor makes it easy to eat, especially for those looking to grow their love for Greek yogurt.

What our tasters thought: Although the combination sounds decadent, this flavor was not a fond choice among tasters. In fact, everyone agreed that they would rather have a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream instead . . .

Blueberry Power

What our tasters thought: If you typically load your yogurt with healthy toppings, this pack is for you. Some found the chia, hemp, and walnut mix brilliant and satisfying, but a few tasters felt it overpowered the blueberry yogurt.

Passion Fruit

What our tasters thought: "I love that they kept the seeds in, because it's like having freshly scooped passion fruit," one taster praised. The tart bursts of flavor and crunchy seeds were appreciated by all tasters across the board. It was a fresh-tasting yogurt that we wished more grocery stores carried.

Pineapple

What our tasters thought: Many tasters complained that there was not enough pineapple acidity. The flavor was light, and there was not enough fruity, fibrous texture. Some thought it was nice, but tasted almost canned.

Blood Orange

What our tasters thought: Many people struggled to taste the distinct blood orange flavor. One taster noted it was more sweet like an orange soda rather than acidic like oranges. However, others liked the "Creamsicle-esque" flavor, even if it was not authentic-tasting.

Mango

What our tasters thought: Compared to the other flavors, the mango is supersweet, which Greek yogurt fans found to be too syrupy for breakfast. However, the mango chunks were a big hit, giving the yogurt a ton of tropical flavor.

Apple Cinnamon

What our tasters thought: Many were pleasantly surprised by the combination of apple cinnamon and Greek yogurt. Even those who aren't typically fans of apple cinnamon thought it was delicious and were amazed by the low-cal nutritional facts. One commenter compared it to a healthy version of "apple pie à la mode with crispy apple and creamy tart yogurt."

Strawberry

What our tasters thought: Several tasters noted that this flavor tastes like strawberry jelly, which is good for on-the-go but not the same as fresh berries. However, people loved that it was nonfat and less sweet than other comparable strawberry yogurts on the market.

Black Cherry

What our tasters thought: Rather than tasting of fresh cherries, these reconstituted cherries were more like brandied cherries. Tasters felt that the flavor was mediocre, adding it was pretty standard for cherry yogurt: not bad but not great. One taster said she would put it into a trifle. Perhaps cake and chocolate shavings could spice this yogurt up for dessert.

Blueberry

What our tasters thought: Those who aren't fans of blueberry will feel indifferent toward this flavor, but for blueberry lovers, the whole blueberries were real-tasting, making it an attractive flavor that's worthy of buying in the store.

What our tasters thought: Some didn't like the tanginess of the Greek yogurt with the subtly sweet vanilla flavor. Others found the flavor to be simple and classic with just enough vanilla.

What our tasters thought: "Who puts lemon peel in their yogurt?" a few tasters angrily responded. However, others loved the peel and thought topping the lemon yogurt with crushed graham cracker would make an excellent faux pie.
