Cilantro: Love It or Hate It?

Last week I mentioned that at least one scientist believes that cilantro preferences may be a genetic trait. Since people are clearly divided on the flavor of this plant, I thought I'd ask: Which of you are (possibly genetically predisposed to be) cilantro lovers and haters?

Is it always a love or hate thing? Because I'm pretty indifferent to cilantro. It's just...there.

I love coriander...don't use a heap of it as I cant grow it. My coriander always dies! Probably from lack of watering...

Cilantro is an amazing ingredient! It's so distinctive and adds so much to a dish. I think people who don't like cilantro, it tends to be because they eat dishes where the cook added way to much cilantro. It's definitely an herb that packs a punch, so you have to use with discretion. Used properly, it's one of my favorite ingredients! http://foodieandfork.wordpress.com

loooooove it... when i'm at the public market here in Puebla i just eat a cilantro taco lol... some cilantro, some salt and a tortilla... delicious

I love cilantro! On the contrary, I bought Italian parsley once having mistaken it for cilantro and HATED IT. It is so strong and overpowering, and possibly the only herb I really despise.

I'm not a big fan, but I haven't had a lot of exposure to it; my mother is very allergic, so never cooked anything with it while I was growing up. I do like ground coriander in soups, though, just not necessarily the taste of the fresh herb by itself. One question: why is it called cilantro in the US? Does any other nation call it that? It's coriander here, and everywhere else I've traveled as well.

I personally love it, but my husband hates it with a passion (he claims it doesn't taste like something that you'd consider to be food), so when I make salsas and things, I have to leave it off his portion.
