Cloth Napkins: Love Them or Hate Them?

Whenever I have friends over for dinner, I always set the table with cloth napkins. They add a level of formality to the meal while providing color to the tablescape. The one downside of cloth napkins is that after dinner they have to be washed and ironed. Do you use cloth napkins?

definitely cloth napkins; they encourage me to feel more aware of the occasion and the meal. i love the huuuge ones you get in restaurants that practically cover your entire lap and if you're old school, you can tuck or tie around your neck like a bib hahaha (man how times have changed.... can you imagine doing that nowadays in a restaurant?)

I HATE them. I feel like I am wiping my face with my clothing. I feel like I'm getting something dirty that shouldn't be. I know it's horrible for the environment, but I'd much rather use a paper towel. (Which to be fair, I stretch to make four napkins).

I like white cloth napkins. That way, when I spill or wipe something on them (which is inevitable as I am a complete spaz) I can bleach or Oxy Clean the crappolla out of them.

I think there's a bit of a misconception about cloth napkins....like they can only be used in formal situations when there's company. I'd rather use cloth napkins even if it's just my boyfriend and I than paper towels or napkins. Sure there are really fancy, expensive cloth napkins that you almost don't want to wipe your face or hands with, but there are also inexpensive cotton napkins that work just fine.

Love. Use them almost every day. They don't necessarily have to be ironed unless they're the fancier types (and even then I don't typically iron unless they're super wrinkled). We have plenty of non-fancy, cotton every day napkins that are really nice and soft, much better than paper napkins.

With cloth napkins, they seem too nice to use and mess up.
