Sweet Sight: Sushi Cookies

If you think this sushi looks absolutely delicious, I suggest you look again. It's actually not a savory sight, it's a sweet one! TeamSugar member treu shared these sushi-shaped cookies with us in the Savory Sights Group. These cookies were made by her sister and use rice krispies, marzipan, chocolate, gummi drops and marshmallow to portray a full sushi spread. They look so realistic, I want to host a sushi party just so I can make these for dessert!

Thanks for the comments, everyone! (I'm the sister :) I explained the ideas for some of the things on Flickr, where I posted the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/janevieve/2120982931/. I made the caviar ("salmon roe", in theory :) from a gummi mixture using the first recipe here: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060906114646AAL9gA7. It was pretty easy--basically just melting orange gelatin and water together. I then put the mixture in a squeeze bottle (mine is a Wilton brand bottle) and just squeezed out a bunch of dots on parchment paper.

kgiuffre I think those are red hots for the red caviar - in miniature size though? I thought they were usually larger.

Love them! So cute! I only know a few sushi hold outs, that still refuse to eat sushi, but these would be fun for everyone, even the kiddies!

these are really cute! i'm not a fan of sushi, but i know people who are, so if i ever threw a get-together or something, we'd all be winners with these sweet treats!
