Corkeeper: Love It or Hate It?

Every now and then I'll save a cork from a bottle of wine. Not because I want to remember the occasion or wine, but because it's nice to have extra corks lying around. That's why when I first saw the Corkeeper, a souvenir that holds a cork and two-by-three-inch photo, I thought, "that's kind of ridiculous." But, when I heard that it was created by restaurant owners who would snap a picture of diners that were celebrating special occasions and present it to them after their meal, I changed my mind. What a great way to remember a birthday! What do you think? Is the Corkeeper a fun way to preserve a memory?

I got to play with these at Zinfest. They're a great fit for remembering those special occasions. I think if you live in an area that has a big wine culture, it may not be as interesting to you. However, if you're taking your once-every-five-year trip through Napa and you want some keepsakes for those special places you visited, this is a great little concept. The girl who invented these is really great too. I hope this takes off.

i think that it's a cute way to remember a night. i don't usually save corks, but this could be a great way to make a gift for someone.

I agree with some of the others. I'd prefer to have the Wine bottle label as oppose to the cork. Though, this devise is a great idea ... just a little cheesy for my tastes.

I think its a great idea for a really special yet unusual occasion I think it works better for things like promotions as opposed to birthdays and the day you get engaged!!

It's a good way to remember something special, but I think it's a little cheesy-looking. I like the idea of saving the label and maybe framing it with a picture taken at the restaurant.

I would love to have had that. My friend and I always shared a bottle and she moved away recently. It would have been nice to have a picture and the cork for a fun going away gift. :)

I got a signed cork from my lab mates (I'm in grad school) when I had my son. It just happened that my scheduled c-section was the same time as our weekly lab meetings, so they had a celebratory toast while I was giving birth. It'd be nice to have a place to display it.
