I like mettre mes affaires en place if I know it's a recipe where you have to act quickly, or if I'm afraid I'll forget something. I always check if I have the correct quantities of everything before I start cooking, but for people who don't do that, mise en place could help them notice if something's missing. I definitely don't think it saves you time. Quite the opposite in fact, if it's a process with several steps, where I could for example cut up one thing while another one is cooking.

OMG - this is an awesome idea! I may confuse myself by using my Cupcake Timer and wearing my Cupcake Apron to help bake up a batch of cupcake-in-a-cupcakes! (giggles) I think I know what I'm trying tonight - thanks for the recipe link!
