Keep reading to see the recipe — no fondue pot required.Lay out your favorite fondue ingredients: mine happen to be salty pretzel pieces, vanilla marshmallows, and strawberries, but you can use whatever fruit, cake, and candy you like. Once the fondue is made, transfer the saucepan to the table and place it underneath a kitchen towel to prevent it from damaging any surfaces and start dipping away with your fingers or a fondue fork, if you have one. This thick dark chocolate fondue is only slightly sweet, so it pairs perfectly with the items at hand. It makes for a very romantic way to end Valentine's Day.
Reheat fondue as needed by returning the saucepan to the stove over low heat. Whisk it constantly to prevent the bottom from scorching.
1 cup (8 ounces) dark chocolate, like Tcho 68 percent dark couverture
3/4 cup (6 ounces) whipping cream
Pinch of salt
1 16-ounce container strawberries
1 bag marshmallows
1 bag pretzels, like Pretzel Crisps
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk over low heat until small bubbles form, whisking often so the milk does not scald. Whisk in the chocolate, until it melts, and the mixture completely emulsifies into a pudding-like texture. Remove from heat and serve with the strawberries, marshmallows, and pretzels.
