How did a dead frog find its way into a Pepsi can? That's the seminal question at the center of the latest food safety gross-out. Fred and Amy DeNegri, a retired couple from Florida claim they discovered a dead frog in a Pepsi can, and have plans to take legal action.
Fred DeNegri took a sip of a newly opened Diet Pepsi and started gagging. DeNegri emptied the can in his sink, but could tell that a heavy weight remained inside. He shook it until something resembling "pink linguine" slid out, followed by "dark stuff," his wife said. They took pictures and called authorities.
It wasn't until the sample went into lab testing that the larger object was identified as a frog or a toad "lacking internal organs," according to the FDA report, which could not conclude whether or not the frog was there before the can had been opened. The FDA conducted an investigation of the Orlando, FL, bottling plant, and found everything in normal condition.
On a recent CNN show, two correspondents discussed the controversy, insinuating that the situation could be a hoax, or even planted by competitor Coke. I'm repulsed by the situation — how could such a large animal find its way into an aluminum soda can? Do you feel for the traumatized couple, or do you see this as another finger-in-the-chili fabrication?

omg this cracked me up:
1But the DeNegris say they're hopping mad over Pepsi's handling of the matter.
Ugh, that's gross. I could see it happening; a frog getting into the bottling plant. If it happened to me, I don't know if I'd sue or not. I probably wouldn't, actually. As long as they promised me free Diet Pepsi for life. Free Diet Pepsi for life would probably break my Diet Coke loyalty, lol.
2YOU are not alone! About a few weeks ago I myself went to the local ARBY'S for the 5 for 5 special. My wife bit into her Arby's sandwich and I heard a crunching sound? I said roast beef doesn't crunch whats going on? Apparently a rock like substance she spit out and chipped her front tooth, and broke her back tooth of completely. I immediately went back to the ARBYS' and spoke to the Manager on duty. Irving the Manager told me Quote, he was extremely sorry for all the pain that was caused, also said this has been happening quite a few times before and could not have been more sorry. I showed him the receipt and he immediately refunded my order, also gave me his personal card for a free sandwich ,and gave me the e- mail address for the Corporate Store. After I e- mailed the person they again apologized and said they would take care of any and all expenses. Well some how some way it turned around on US!. According to the Arby's rep quote, because I bought the sandwiches thru the drive thru we don't know what WE did to them and refused to accept liability!. We have retained council and are also looking at our legal course. My suggestion to all that read this is whether you by at the actual store or go thru the drive thru BEWARE OF WHAT YOU EAT, AND WATCH WHAT YOU BITE INTO.
3Please forgive me I forgot to mention where the incident took place. We live in Las Vegas Nevada, and the ARBY'S ON Fort Apache road, nearest cross streets are Fort Apache and Tropicana. Since the incident occurred they have since stopped the 5 for 5. And I told everyone in my complex where we live and when I got my hair cut today at Great Clips I also told my hair stylist about it and the entire store patrons and all heard it as well.We want to warn everyone because of the potential Dental Bills that can or will occur!..
4You complain about Arby's but get your hair cut at Great Clips???????
5i'm a big diet pepsi fan, and tho i am surprised (and somewhat suspecting of this as they have people watching all the way thru), it does make me wonder, and make me glad i am a in a glass over ice soda drinker.
6uhh..wow...i bet there is more to the story that we don't know. but ewww..
7That is so cool! Like a prize in a Cracker Jack box.
I don't drink soft drinks or eat Cracker Jacks, though
8This is a scam to collect money. First person they call is a lawyer. They have the same problem as our current health system. Anybody who has been to a bottling plant for canned soda can tell you the empty cans are blasted with high pressure water upside down just before they are turned right side up and filled with soda and have the lid seamed onto the can. All this at 1000 cans a minute. No time for frogs with no internal organs to jump into a can. Hope these people face jail time for trying to rip the rest of the American public off.
9I feel for you Gary and Lucy I would be upset as well...But a FROG! Yuck that is disgusting I wouldn't know what I would do
10I live in Florida and there is no lack of frogs or toads here. If they wanted to shove a frog in their can of soda, I am sure they would not take the time to remove the internal organs. Personally I think the Pepsi probably dissolved the innards. Or by some chance a frog wandered into the plant, fell into a vat and got sucked up into the can. It is amazing how many times I find frog remains in our pool pump, fully intact. Big ones and little ones.
I don't think it is the couple, I do believe it is a Pepsi problem. The couple is mad that Pepsi is being so rude.
11I call bull(frog)sh*t.
12Sounds like a hoax. Please keep us posted!
13Sounds like a lie to me. I know the economy has really hit some people hard but come on. Don't plant a small frog in a soda can for money.
14if thats true, thats beyond disgusting
15Damn, that's nasty.
Good thing I don't drink diet pepsi- it gives me a horrible migraine.. ugh.
16That is pretty gnarly. But it isn't just pepsi. I found a huge ant in a can of corn the other day. Granted I didn't kick up a fuss and just boiled the corn.
17On 9.8.09 14 employees at UCSF discovered a dead frog in an Arrowhead 3 gallon sealed drinking bottle water. The FDA still has not investigated the problem. They said they will visit next week to test the bottled water. IN the interim, we have 3 sick employee who drank out of three bottles that contain the same lot number as the frog bottle. Directory of Health at Nestles awaiting the Local FDA's response.
