Coq au Vin, pronounced, coke-oh-vahn

Literally translated to "rooster in wine," coq au vin [1] is a classic French stew of chicken pieces, bacon or lardons (salt pork), mushrooms, and onions cooked together in red wine. Many regions of France have developed their own variations of the dish using local wines.
